Sophie Kinsella's books have been so hit or miss for me that I'm DEEPLY shocked to be rating this one so much higher than most other reviewers. But whatever -- once I got past the first few chapters of thinking Lottie was a soppy idiot, the entire thing was hilarious. The exploits of the hotel staff trying MADLY to derail the titular wedding night (really nights) had me giggling nonstop, as did all the equally weird twists and complications of the Fliss / Lorcan / Richard road trip.

Sophie Kinsella is totally hit or miss for me. This one was a complete miss. I find that in her books, she tries to demonstrate normal things that people do as silly (especially when they are taken to the extreme). Usually, the protagonist is (kind of) right and you find yourself thinking "Hey, I'm with her!" However, this book was all silly without heart. The main character is so completely ridiculous that I don't know how any self-respecting person could relate to her as a character. I found myself having to push through the book because I found her antics so over the top and just obnoxious.

Not spending another minute on this one. It was bad. The End.

This is simply not a book written by Sophie Kinsella, it just can't be ! I'm so disappointed i caught my self searching for a side book to read ,and that never happened before with Kinsella's books. i have to admit i bailed on it .

I laughed out loud at the only other book I read by her, so gave this a try. I admit I did laugh out loud once or twice during this one (it was the kid's voice, for those who read it), but the premise was so annoying that the British setting and her good comic writing didn't make up for it.
