I loved this book and look forward to reading the other books in this series. The characters are flawed, but are relatable. They were fun to read about and I am all here for the budding romance that HAS to happen between the two main characters. I mean, they were meant for each other! The mystery was a puzzle that I could not solve and the reveal shocked me out of my socks. A really great reading experience was had. I would recommend it to any mystery reader who likes a bit of romance and history in their books.

I finally found my next hyper fixation series!! I'd been in a bit of a slump and decided to switch it up and struck gold! I'm so excited to keep reading all of these!

I did think Veronica was a little annoying at first, the long windedness of every single response was tedious, but it did get better... Or maybe I just got more used to it, but either way by the end I didn't even notice. I enjoyed how odd and independent she is. She was adventurous, almost to a fault and she was just a great FMC.

Stoker is a great MMC as well, he has no issue with a strong, independent woman and is happy to stand beside her instead of in front of her. I love the teensy weensy bit of romantic tension between the two, and the banter is so much fun.

So excited to read the next one!

It started brilliantly. Caught me half breath. Amazing, I thought. Of course, it isn’t possible to keep up that pace.
What bothers me is that she sticks around with the mean rude and arrogant guy who tells her “he is a real scientist, and she is not”. For all her talk of knowing self worth why does she stay with him, if they’re gonna fall in love later I’ll be very disappointed.
Really getting tired of this. He is being abusive and controlling and all in all horrible and, according to the author, finds it extremely amusing and even charming.
He: I swear if you vex me further I will not be responsible for my actions”
She: oh come now hihi
