This was fun!! I don't really like books that are usually classified as being in the 'mystery' genre, but I had SO much fun with this. I adore the banter (there's a lot of dialogue) and all the unbelievable things that our two main characters have done. Is it realistic? No. But that's the whole point. They're both people who've accomplished great things. I usually don't finish series (I'm one of those people), but I must admit I'm curious about the next few books in the series. I have a few questions that weren't answered, and I did really like the writing! I'm looking forward to the continuation of this series.

This was the most fun read I have had in forever. I haven't had the good fortune to read anything by Deanna Raybourn before so I went in on the recommendations of book bloggers and an author I adore and her book recs.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable story about a Victorian firecracker of a character that is a feminist, scientist and above all else the most enjoyable MC I have read in ages. A feminist, taxidermist, with an eye patch and a scowl for her possible love interest Stroker, was a wonderful anti-hero, described as a fallen angel one that kept his cards close to his chest but had enough to play with to spark your interest.
The plot was fun, A whodunnit acrosss Britain ( with a circus tent thrown in) with scandals and birthright being our ties that bind.very witty conversations, as mentioned a heroine that seals the deal, and to top it off, a superb audio narration performance by Angèle Masters.
I cannot wait to read book two and the authors other works.

When It revealed itself...It left me a little agape with disbelief but still goodI cannot wait to read book two and the authors other works.
