This book gets good during the last 75-50 pages. Otherwise the pacing was slow.

This is not a typical read for me. I have seen a lot of good reviews of this so I thought I would give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised!

I was frustrated for the first half of the book because it was all character building. This was well done with enough banter to keep me engaged.

I look forward to the next book in the series.

It’s not the book it’s me. The storyline did not click with me. I found it boring and started skimming about 20% in waiting for it to end. Veronica Speedwell is a naturalist and after her home is ransacked she is swept off to a taxidermist’s protection as they try to stay safe and solve a murder.
