This book is an interesting read. I think it’s disgusting, shameful & overall a bad take on many ideas.

There are some charming moments, parts that made me feel actually invested in the story & the characters. However a major plot point is to put it nicely; vile. truly a waste of time to read

This book was incredible, my only issues were that it didn't form a very strong emotional connection to the characters so when it could have been emotionally devastating it was just a little sad. I really loved how weird this book was though, anything that could happen did happen.

I have no idea what I’ve just read, but I think I liked it? Felt like a dark fever dream, nothing made sense and there are no answers.
Would make a great graphic novel.

Largely an introspective book, with a slow-burn mystery that isn't wrapped up neatly–rather, it's left open to interpretation. The calm introspective tone throughout most of the novel is juxtaposed with a handful of blazingly tense, violent, and–in my opinion–unnecessarily disturbing scenes of animal cruelty, and sexual violence/incest. Good writing, but would not recommend based on the disturbing scenes the inconclusive nature of the narrative that I found unsatisfying.

I’m only giving it 3 stars bc the writing is just good and the magical realism is very magically realistic!! but dear lord this was SUCH a PAINFUL read , i could not in good conscience recommend this book to anyone. Made me cry in public, almost vomit a couple times, simply awful reading experience.
If anyone recommends this book to u, they ur opp‼️‼️‼️

Reading this book was like taking a step back from an image and watching the blur form something beautiful. For me, this book offered a smooth medicine for trauma and reflection on how to cope with difficult things, especially the challenge of how we grow from our own resultant character flaws. As a trans guy, I personally don’t mind the portrayal of a transmasc character and the truth there felt real. The misogynistic tones in this book, however, are destructive flaws that hurt the narrative.
