Out of the 4 books in this stand alone series I liked this one the best. All 4 included real life trauma (addiction, abuse, mental/physical health problems) and of course
My favorite of the series!
This book was a beautiful end to the series. I’m so proud of Lily, and how hard she worked to get her HEA. This story brings us full circle from book one. We finally get to see why Lily ran away when she did and what life’s been like for her during that time. Mason was hired by Chase to track her down, but when he did he knew he couldn’t just give up her location. He was drawn to her and felt compelled to stay and watch her longer, discover the reason she left before telling her brother. In that time though he let his guard down, he lost his cover and went and fell in love. I absolutely adored the relationship between the two of them. I knew that it would hurt when the truth came out- and it did. But the ending was so freaking sweet. We got to see more of all the Sugarlake gang and see glimpses into their future in the epilogue. Definitely made me teary eyed.
I’m glad this is my first book of the year. ❤️

Excellent Series
I absolutely loved this series. It was just a good hometown, a heart-wrenching love story. The characters were phenomenal and each so different. I highly recommend reading.

The last book of the Sugarlake series and one of Emily’s first into the dark romance genre. This book is darker than the pervious three in the series for the storyline, but beautifully written. The FMC struggles with self worth and abandonment due to childhood trauma that the MMC sees and doesn’t ball from. And the MMC struggles with family appearances that shaped his behavior as a child to internal conflict as an adult that the FMC learns to appreciate. These two characters have an unconventional love story that fits perfectly for them.
An additional note is that this book concludes the Sugarlake series where each book is a standalone with a running plot for the whole series. An excellent series in my eyes.
