i lost track of how many times i cried during this book. i loved it. it was the perfect ending to the Sugarlake series. but i don’t want it to end. i love these characters and their stories so much. Emily McIntire absolutely served with these books. read them now!!

I've been looking forward to Lily's story since I read the first book, Beneath the Stars. I really waned to know what became of her. All four of the books in this series are standalones, but to fully appreciate this book, you really should, at least, read the first book.

I enjoyed Lily and Mason's story. He was an enigma and I really wanted his backstory. He wasn't just a private investigator sent to find Lily. He was so much more. And--he knew he shouldn't meet her and should stay away, but he just couldn't. When, eventually, he has to leave her it was out of necessity and for her protection.

Lily is just barely scraping by on her waitress salary--trying to support her and her young son. She left Sugarlake many years ago and has no interest in returning. Her past involves drug use and addiction, but she has kept herself clean and sober for her child. She is a strong woman and is doing what she needs to do to take care of her child.

I was so happy for the epilogues and how all the characters from the series are involved. It was a nice wrap-up for everyone in the series.

Thank you to the author for an advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to Emily and her PA Brittni for letting me be a part of the ARC team to read an Adv Copy of Beneath The Surface. I absolutely devoured this book in a day and could not put this one down. It had me hooked from the beginning! The story between Lily and Mason was amazing and I loved their relationship together. Mason was just AMAZING and I loved him. There was so much love, heartbreak, drama, happiness, you name it. Just overall the story was great and I highly recommend this one. Emily's books are absolutely amazing and I have loved each and every one of them. <3

I honestly didn't think it was possible for Emily to stomp on my heart anymore then she already had from the previous books in the Sugarlake series but boy did she.

She knows how to write such meaningful stories that will last with you a life time.
She pulls you in and honestly you are hooked from the first sentence.

Lily's story has been on my mind since Beneath the Stars released. I was curious to see how Emily would bring her story to life and she delivered. Lilly and Mason's story is beautifully written and I CANNOT wait for you to be captivated by it. BRING THE TISSUES YOU ARE GOING TO NEED THEM.

Gah, rip my heart out and stomp on it.... You know those books that once you start reading, you don't realize that time is even going by? That you have to see through completion, yet want to read as slowly as possible so you can savor every last morsel? That's this book right here. Hell, that's this whole series! I'm sad that this is the end of Sugarlake and these amazing characters. But gosh my heart is so full. Watching these characters come full circle has been a brilliant ride. I'll read this series again and again and never tire of it.

Forgiveness is divine....

Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

This... was too much and not enough at the same time.

I found myself hating both Mason and Lily (I've always had a slight problem with Lily's myopic view).

It tied stuff up too neatly as well.

This book!!! You first meet Lily in Beneath the Stars. All the books are standalones in this series, but I HIGHLY suggest you read Beneath the Stars first. I wanted Lily’s story for the longest time! This one did not disappoint! I truly believe that Emily saved the best for last. This story was gripping, I could not put it down. I pretty much read it in one sitting. I would have but I started the book late and my eyes wouldn’t work anymore. I loved Lily and Mason so much! If you want an emotional ride…make sure to read this one. Not only do you get Lily and Mason’s story you get awesome closure to the series. Those epilogues were everything! I’m so not ready for this series to be over! It will definitely be added to me reread list! Also another thing I would like to thank Emily for is making Little C actually sound like a three year old! So many times when there is a young child in books their vocabulary is the same as the adults! There are also some subjects touched on that may be difficult for some. Overall I absolutely loved loved loved this book! I would absolutely recommend this and the rest of the Sugar Lake Series!

Received an arc for a honest review.

I loved this story from the first chapter. Lilly is a strong single mom doing her best for her son. “Alex” shows up and changes everything. It was the perfect small town romance. It was steamy and had emotion and was a page turner!
dark emotional hopeful sad fast-paced

This book was hard to read with Lily working through her trauma and how that impacted her sex life, I've never read a book with CNC and it was hard to read those parts, but the rest of the story was so good, so many twists and turns!
