Especially apropos during these days of Occupy Wall Street. Seems like a lot of people are starting to look at the growing gap between rich and poor and saying I'd prefer not to live this way.

I prefer to not write an essay about this

A strange little book of beautiful writing. I’m not sure I found it as moving — I didn’t much like either the narrator or Bartleby — or as light —except in comparison to Moby Dick — as other people have.

I don't know how much I enjoyed it. But I do think it will occupy space in my head for quite a long time.

i really do not get WHY bartleby died...the narrator is kinda freaky! i liked it but not enough to call it the greatest book i've ever read. i thought the plot was interesting, but Melville definitely wasn't making this as a critique to the wall street lifestyle, i'm getting the vibe that this is more about the moment one realizes somebody is beyond saving they stop caring. the moment one is of no use to a person in power, they are discarded

At present I would prefer not to be a little reasonable.
Thank you, Bartleby the Scrivener for my new bit
