Excellently Read by Stephen Fry. Surprised to hear that such a stickler as Mr Fry has forgotten that pre-WW2 Irene was always pronounced with the second e as a y in the UK.

Holmes and Watson's adventures kept me company during a radical reorganization of my room after years of postponing: it seemed an impossible task, but Sherlock's wit and his uncanny way of reasoning made it funnier. Fortunately the audiobook was long enough to meet success.

For A Study in Scarlet and The Hound of the Baskervilles I also used Audrey guides, which added some nice information about the setting and gave me interesting food for thought.
To be honest I probably preferred short stories to proper novels.

Stephen Fry's interpretation and forewords are the icing on the cake. I totally agree with him: you want to believe that this unusual duo is real and not just a figment of imagination.

I really got into Sherlock Holmes when I was a freshman in college. At Wake, all freshman have to take a first-year seminar, and they run the gamut of all kinds of interest areas and disciplines. I chose the "Analytical Methods of Sherlock Holmes" and loved every bit of it. Basically we read through the each and every SH story and tested certain problem-solving methods to see if they would work in real life. Then at the end of the course, we had to write our own original Sherlock story and the professor graded them, while the class chose which one was best. Mine won so maybe that's why I'm partial to ol' Holmes and Watson :)

Yep, I have now read all of the original short stories and novels of Sherlock Holmes. I recommend the short stories in particular - they are quite brief and varied. A nice opportunity to take a 15 minute break and read an entire plot line. I am less a fan of the 'novels' as they spend the majority of their time detailing the back stories rather than the current plot. Hound of the Baskervilles being an exception.

Me encantó y me encariñé con los personajes principales. Siento que me fue muy entretenido. Me dejó un vacío existencial después de leerlo (╥﹏╥)
