I'm so emotional and confused. I've loved this series and these characters so much, and I gave 5 stars to both [b:Divergent|13335037|Divergent (Divergent, #1)|Veronica Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1328559506s/13335037.jpg|13155899] and [b:Insurgent|11735983|Insurgent (Divergent, #2)|Veronica Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1325667729s/11735983.jpg|15524542], but this book has left me conflicted and slightly disappointed.
It's quite difficult to explain without spoiling the book, but the plot of [b:Allegiant|18710190|Allegiant (Divergent, #3)|Veronica Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1395582745s/18710190.jpg|15524549] goes in a very different direction compared to the first two books in the series. I feel like [b:Insurgent|11735983|Insurgent (Divergent, #2)|Veronica Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1325667729s/11735983.jpg|15524542] followed on really well from [b:Divergent|13335037|Divergent (Divergent, #1)|Veronica Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1328559506s/13335037.jpg|13155899], and the plot followed the route I assumed it would take. But then, [b:Allegiant|18710190|Allegiant (Divergent, #3)|Veronica Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1395582745s/18710190.jpg|15524549] introduces a whole new dimension to the book that we haven't seen before, and the plot changes a lot and focuses on different things compared to the first two books. I think it just left me feeling a little lost because the story and setting changed too fast. But then, I don't deal with change very well in general, and so this might not be a problem for other readers.
Having said that, I also think part of the reason I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first two is down to the fact that I have read it before and I knew what the ending was going to be. All I will say about that is that while I do feel that the ending closes the story well, I'm not a fan of the ending. Because of that, I think I was reading this book and kind of dreading the ending coming, which made it less enjoyable for me.
Despite those points, I still love the world setting, the characters, the writing style and the fast-moving plot throughout this whole series. I just feel that these elements were lacking in this final book. The massive change in direction for the story meant the introduction of a lot of new information and characters, and I feel the development of the existing world and characters suffered for that.
I would still recommend this series to anyone who loves dystopian novels, corrupt governments, rebellions, hilarious kick-ass characters, or just anyone who loves reading well-written books because [a:Veronica Roth|4039811|Veronica Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1363910238p2/4039811.jpg] is an outstanding writer!

The final book in the trilogy my sister just can't get enough of.
That's right, I read this trilogy because my sister recommended it to me. But about the book. After Insurgent I was not really excited about reading this book. Not because Insurgent was bad, but because it wasn't nearly as good as the first book, Divergent. This book picked things back up. I was way more interested from the beginning in this book and it carried itself well throughout the whole book. Where she took the direction of this book was a nice change compared to the first two.
The biggest thing I didn't like about this book is the ending. I want to say that I like all kinds of endings. Endings that are happy. Endings that are sad. Endings that let you decide what happens next. I like them all. As long as it is well placed. This ending I felt was not well placed. It wasn't a bad ending, it just wasn't what it could have been. Anyway, I'm excited for the Divergent movie in a couple weeks. We shall see if it is as good as the book *finger's crossed*

20 years later, still frustrates me!
I really wanted to be able to give this a higher rating… but the end kind of ruined it for me. Still no regrets on reading these again even if the movies are absolutely terrible
This was my lest favorite of the Divergent series. I had to force myself to actually finish this book mainly because I hit the part of the plot where you get the overall message of the series. Roth still didn't let the characters grow and devlope through out the series. Her only character that actually develops she turns into a martyr. She also switched her writing style yet again which was annoying.
I put off reading this for so long, I had a friend who was sure I'd hate it and kept shouting 'unnecessary death!' Whenever I mentioned it. I'm so glad I finally read it, I honestly really liked the ending, I thought it was pretty perfect.

I am so irritated with this book. It was so poorly done it makes me angry. She ruined the story. I hate it when authors force a certain act on a character that is so against what the character would do. Its the same reason I hated the 5th Harry Potter. Harry would never have acted the way he did in that book and JK Rowling has said if she could redo any book it would that one. This book was like the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean movie, ruined the entire series. DON'T READ IT!
