This was deeply, deeply, mid. It was pretty good. But, not as good as everyone else made it out to be.
i had absolutely zero motivation to read this book from the get-go because it simply did not interest me. i was also a tad confused going back and forth between the pov of morgan and clara (mostly with the flashbacks from morgan's teen years) but then i grew a brain and understood so it's fine.
i think the main reason that i was so not excited to continue reading this book was solely because there was nothing happy about it whatsoever. like shit just kept flying south with every damn page turn and it wasn't even like boo hoo you're not getting the love interest you want-- it was straight up shit hit the fan for all the wrong reasons and the reader just gets to sit there crying over the fact everyone is wrong LMFAO.
MOST certainly wanted to throw this book out my window and burn it before i was finished
i'm very pleased with the ending and how the book actually developed to reach that point but .. it was rough. not my fav that coho has put out because it straight up just pissed me off
but i still liked it :)

I have yet to read a Hoover novel and not be surprised by the ending. Always enjoy her books, but this one was so special. Finding your way back to your true love, first love. Unexpected and page-turning. We’ll done (as always), Ms. Hoover.
So cringe throughout the whole book.. almost DNF so many times.. the chapter about their video at the end almost made me stop reading it

This books seems to have very mixed opinions but I think this book was written extremely well. I loved the perspectives of mother and daughter. I loved the humour. I actually laughed out loud at one point when Miller and Gramps were talking. One thing I wasn’t 100% sure on is if the affair was true because the letters never confirmed it so I liked not knowing for sure because what if they were going to the hotel to plan a surprise party or something lol. I still like the fact we were left not knowing about the affair and when it started etc, as much as I dislike not knowing. (Maybe the letters should have been added at the end). I think it was so interesting, seeing them all deal with grief in different ways and seeing a mother trying to navigate her relationship with her child through that. It was painful at times. I wanted to just beg Morgan to tell her the truth because it was becoming really hard to read when they were just being so destructive. I mean food fights, holes in walls and mean comments has nothing on Clara breaking her virginity to spite her mum. I also don’t know how Miller got over that. I loved the fact that she was turning seventeen in the book and her mum was seventeen when she had her as It allowed us to see why her mum was so protective. I loved the fact they both had their own story about love going on and their path to finding it.
I love how it interlinks and both of them don’t like who the other is dating and for different reasons and then there is acceptance at the end. I agree it was a hard read when it was constant anger on every page and just mental breakdowns one after another and that’s a bit too much. But I loved the plot. LOVE JONAH AND MILLER!!

i am kinda disappointed in this one, but the book wasn’t all bad. i feel like it could have been done better. too much time was spent on clara’s pov and i feel like the book could have been solely from morgan’s pov. i enjoyed hearing morgan’s pov because she didn’t have the temper of a child, like clara. her side of the story leaned into the parts that i liked better about the book. the mother daughter dynamic was extremely frustrating to the point where it felt unrealistic. every miscommunication between them felt more and more unlikely. however, i would still recommend this book to anyone that is interested.
This was my second Colleen Hoover book.
Honestly, I expected worse. This was a recommendation from my friend Annie so I read it with her in mind. I can tell why she liked it so much, Hoover is a good writer. She keeps readers wanting more, which is why I finished it in two days.
But my stupid self keeps comparing modern books to classics, hence the two stars. Plus I cringe at romance like this.
It really wasn’t all that bad.
