I just did not love this book. It started out good and then I felt like the pacing went too quickly and the plot started to fall apart.
There were plot holes and certain conflicts were resolved far too quickly. The romance was steamy, but it happened too soon in my opinion.

OK, I knew better than to try another new author, but the blurb on this one kinda hooked me. I am not a huge romance by itself fan, but I do like romance with intrigue. So, I thought why not? This was a terrific book. Mera has put her heartbreaking past behind her, and even though she can’t find a new man to replace the one she was scorned by, she is making a better life for herself. Until the past comes back with a vengeance. I loved the fire (ha! You’ll see why this is funny) and passion between Mera and Valentine, and I loved the way the past was slowly revealed to us. This book is filled with great writing, suspense, and action, and I can’t wait to see what happens next with that shocking ending. Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
A vampire and witch romance that will keep you guessing what will happen next. This is the first book of the series and does end with a cliffhanger. If you enjoy paranormal romance then you will definitely like this one. It has your vampires but they aren’t exactly as you would expect. The witches are classified by their talents. The main character is a witch but with no power. To some that means she isn’t worth anything. The story is amazingly written and will have you right beside our witch as she tries to live her life, survive and learn the truth.
What a mess!!! I can't understand these five star ratings. There was so much retcon. Details forgotten come back when convenient. The heroine just reacts to the story, she's nothing but a new Bella with a huge amount of power no one has seen in thousands of years. Are Mary Sues back? That was a nightmare.
This is not working for me so I'm going to DNF. It's moving very very slowly with a lot of extra details that are not purely necessary.

3.5 - Interesting premise and I really like what little I have seen of Valentine. I adore
Macavity! Lol I want him and the protective "kitten" scene was sweet. The ending was sad and ends on a huge cliffhanger.
