Mera grew up in the supernatural world. However, she was a bit different. She was unable to wield magic and was labeled a Neutral. She was once engaged to Valentine, the Vampire King. Things didn't go as planned and broke it off. About three years later, he reappears and informs her that she is in danger. He is willing to do everything in his power to save her.

What an interesting read! The tension and angst between Mera and Valentine was pretty hot.
I would have thought there would be more a lot more steam. However, I deeply enjoyed the suspense and thrill of the story. Poor Mera was not only being hunted, but cursed. Plus, the end events and cliffhanger... I definitely can't wait to see what happens next.

I received an ARC and voluntarily gave my honest opinion and review

i really paused half way on the book that just came out to read this one bc the other book was lowkey boring and i got an ad on this book and was like shit i got to read it. but i mostly read it for angst and shit be the guy pretended he never dated the girl and i was hoping for a lil redemption arc but no it was just him being like omg ur memories were erased like we planned this whole thing out bc she's like some illegal magic person and blah blah blah. the beginning kinda boring tho bc it just be talking about her working at a crystal and shop and it be giving very much white spiritualist vibe and then it takes like 80 pages until the guy comes like you're so boring for what give me #angsty sad shit but like i kinda got some of that bc the girl got a curse to make him want to attack her and he did it but killed himself before he could kill her and that was sad kinda i didn't really care bc i didn't have an emotional attachment to him and then the end was him coming back but as this bad version of a vampire yk and i'm not gonna read the rest of the series bc shits 7 books long of the same damn couple and i'm tired of them already. giving a 4/10 want my time back pls.

I have been provided with a review copy of Allure of the Vampire King from the author for an impartial review. This is the first book in the brand-new Blood Fire Saga series and this was just such a great way to start off a new series. I just really enjoyed this story and I just didn’t want it to end. I just lost myself in and I just couldn’t get enough of these interesting characters. The only thing I didn’t like was that the story ends on a cliffhanger so prepare yourself for that. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this series.

Overly descriptive with not enough character development or world building. Pretty contrived, action for action's sake, not great writing. Worth a shot, but i'm not continuing this series....

DID NOT FINISH: 61%

Not what I was expecting and didn't really promise on what the premise gave. Plus wasn't a fan of the worldbuilding

This was an easy quick read. I am a sucker for any type of supernatural story, and will finish the series. The way it's going so far reminds me a little bit of The Vampire Academy series, but I could be totally wrong.

I did not finish the series. Didn’t even move on to the second book

Update:

Dnf’ing the series at book 5. This is just  a series of unfortunate events that could have been mitigated if there was even an ounce of character growth…. But there isn’t. Interspersed with spicy scenes. I stand by my initial book 1 rating of 4 ⭐️.

But series rating is 2⭐️. Read in at your own risk. There will be spoilers

Partial series review. Books 1-4
Series rating so far is 3 ⭐️
Read to me by Alexa and one book listened via audible and skim read book 4

There might be spoilers.

So I’m giving this 3 stars even though I didn’t particularly enjoy much past book 2 because I think it’s me and not the series. If you read and enjoyed the transfusion series…., you will probably enjoy this one. I had the same issue with this series as I had with that series.

It’s a romance….. but the MC’s spend a vast amount of time apart. Which just isn’t my cuppa. Everything that can go wrong for this couple does. I skipped large swaths of book 4 to get to the half decent spice that was very out of place but somewhat decent to read.

Book 1 is good and draws you in. Mera is a magicless supernatural living in the human world after having a very messy breakup with the vampire king. The majority of that book is setting up Mera’s life in London and unraveling the mystery of what went wrong with the Vampire King Valentine after he makes a reappearance in her life. There’s drama, there’s magic, there’s threats against the MC’s that bring them together….. it’s great

Then book 2 happens and it’s pretty much down hill from there

Book 1 ends with the supposed death of Valentine. But you know it’s can’t be the end because there are more books. So it’s a cliffy but i didn’t mind.

But the next 3 books are spent trying to restore him. Book 2 still wast bad. I listened to that one via audio book. And it felt appropriately paced for what was going on. When book 2 ended without him being restored to his normal self (he’s currently an undead half version of himself) I wasn’t upset. Disappointed but not upset.

When I realized half way through book 3 that he likely still wasn’t going to be fixed by the end I was starting to get annoyed. Book 4 I legit just skipped to the spicy scenes which included spankings and exhibitionism which I promise made no sense for these characters. And at the end of book 4 they are still not fighting their foes together. It’s mostly Mera fighting to restore Valentine and him periodically seducing her when he’s not being a deadly unfeeling vampire.

And EVEN with skipping like 60% of the book…. I know what’s going on and don’t seem to have missed much of the important info…. Which tells me it wasn’t needed.

I’ll eventually skim book 5 to get the HEA…. But yea…. Separation of the MC’s as a plot device is never my cuppa. I mean this isn’t full blown separation…. Valentine’s body is still in play. But the soul that made him the MC th at we got to know is book 1….. has been absent since book 1. And we are constantly reminded that he isn’t the REAL Valentine. Which makes all their interactions seem fake and pointless to the story. At least the romantic part of it.

If you want a paranormal adventure that features a couple that seems doomed to fail…. Then this is the book for you.

Fantastic introduction to a new series, Blood Fire Saga. Well written with a smooth pacing and intriguing world building. Mera and Valentine are complex characters with backstories that are dynamic and just starting to be told. There are plenty of unanswered questions, Mera and Valentine's story had just started to unfold.
