Such an engaging and hopeful book! Each chapter starts with a story from Sir David Attenborough's life and travels. The chapter continues with vivid detail about each ocean ecosystem, beginning with the wonders below and the perils each is facing. I felt this book struck the important balance of describing the wonders of our oceans and the immediate threats facing many important creatures, as well as inspiring hope that the ocean can recover if given the time and space to do so. I would recommend this book to marine biology lovers and those with no knowledge on the subject because there is so much to digest and muse about.

I think it would have been 5 stars if I paid more attention. But overall I thought it was great, I learned so much about marine life and issues affecting the oceans. I think in the future I will be more mindful of these issues.
