For me, this author's books are hilarious because they are just factory thrillers (with the same narrator in a good number of the audiobooks), yet they somehow continue to slap.

I like her style because her narrators always come off as gullible, dumb, and frustrating (not to mention you *think* the twist is pretty obvious throughout), but the ending ALWAYS manages to surprise me.

Highly recommend this book, as well as her others, for a quick, satisfying thriller read.

This is my fourth Freida book, and I have liked all the others I've read, but this one just didn't click for me. I feel like the FMC was unbearable and the plot was incredibly predictable, even the epilogue that was supposed to blow my mind.

4.5 for me. Kept me on my toes, but it was the last chapter that really added to this book.

Thank you Netgalley, Poisoned Pen Press and Freida McFadden for the eArc of the Inmate.

I am fairly new to Freida's writing and her books and the few I have read have been good. I did however feel that this one missed the mark a little but not sure why. The characters in the book were well fleshed out and mostly likeable in some way or another, Its always good to have a mix of characters, some unreliable, unlikeable, so it was inclusive in the mix of personalities.  I really like Freida's writing style, the pacing is always good as this one is medium paced with a few ebbs to then gather pace again. The pay off was good, but I felt a little far fetched. Even though its fiction and you're allowed any ending you like. It just didn't gel for me personally.

Its a 3.25 for me, however, Ill still be reading her books in the future.

It’s predictable with a moderate twist at the end like an episode of Scooby-Do, yet I enjoyed the read. Despite flawed characters, at different points in the story I really wanted the best for each one.
