That was sweet one. :)

Her plan's falling apart when Liam left her. He supposed to loved her, cherished her and marry her. But he's not. That's why when Josephine see Liam ten years later, she couldn't breathe. Because now he know that when he left, he didn't just left Jojo alone. But also her son..

The storyline is sweet and I liked it a lot. Too bad there are some points that left unsolved. Like stuff with Nick and I was hoping Sam would do something more drastic than that. But so far, the story went just fine.

The way the author put two point of view instead of one is kind of relieve to me, because of course, everybody loves to know everything right? Nailed it.

But then again, the thing with Nick still bothers me. I can't wait to read the sequel!

I'm not always sorry when I see a movie adaptation before reading a book, but this is one instance where I wish I had known there was a book before a film. This book left me aching, reeling, and eager for more in ways I can't begin to describe.

Despite it being an absurdly easy read that delves heavily into the contemporary-romance-Hallmark-movie-emotion territory, McLaughlin's entrance into the world of Beaumont doesn't treat its readers like they're just here for romance. There is grief, anger, resentment, death, reality, and lots of terrible people needing redemption of all varieties. This book hinges on its characters communicating their faults and working to correct them in all the ways the movie should have. It doesn't shy away from the mistakes characters have made and instead embraces them the way people often aren't afforded.

Although this style of writing and contemporary romance is certainly not for everyone, I'd recommend Forever My Girl to anyone looking for a few hours of knowing their mistakes can be fixed if they are willing to try hard enough.

Re-read January 2018:
The audiobook for this story was released in October 2017 with new narrators. Even though I knew the basics of the story, it seemed far more palatable this time. Before, the main character Liam seemed like just a whiny, selfish guy . . . "nobody understands me, I'm such a mess, waaaaaaahhhhhhh" All I could do is roll my eyes, wish this character would get over himself and put the book aside for characters with some depth.

But this time, possibly due to the narrator, he seemed just sorry and willing to do whatever it took to fix things. So while this is pretty much your average new adult romance, at least it wasn't annoying and shallow like it seemed before.

Nelson Hobbs and Stephanie Rose did this book justice.

July 2015:
I DNF'd this previous as an audiobook, so I already knew the story when I read the ebook. But it just didn't work for me. I may try other books in this series, though. I may also give this another try.

I think this is one of those rare moments where the movie is actually much better than the book. The characters were so brash, and frankly, horrible people. The writing is very, very underdeveloped and the surface level first-person pov adds to this problem. The lack of details and heavy focus on "I" statements and thoughts make this book really hard to enjoy even remotely.

Also, the book specifically states that Liam likes Josie because she's a brunette but the girl on the cover is blond. Bad marketing.

Despite the book being... like this, I really enjoyed the movie adaptation.
