This was a really good read and I really enjoyed the ending.

Cinco estrellas para Forever My Girl.

I wanted to like this book but it ended so abruptly. There was no climax or conflict they had to work through. What was probably meant to be it was over in less than a chapter. The book had such promise but fell completely flat

I got this book, because of reading all the glowing reviews by others. They seemed to feel a connection with the characters, in a way, that I didn't.

Everyone went to school with this cast. The cheerleaders, the football team. The high school sweethearts. Those weren't people I considered my crowd, ever. And not in a boo-hoo I'm unpopular way, just a...really disinterested way.

I don't actually know who was on the football team in my old High School.....I was too busy trying to be too cool for school, not...supporting it, definitely, definitely no cheering, no game attending.

So how do I get into characters that embrace and are shaped by all those things so deeply? Answer is, I don't. And that's why this book left me flat. Except...ironically, the song that the author didn't write the lyrics too, I was like...that sounds pretty good.

So I guess I would like to be excused from this book review due to personal reasons, and class is dismissed...

Release Date: December 27, 2012
Genre: Second Chance Romance

Aww. I really adored this book. It gave me all those cheesy feelings and put a huge smile on my face! I can see why this is a favorite of many readers and I can see why they made it into a movie (although from the movie trailer it looks like a lot of things were changed). It's an all around feel good romance with a sweet set of characters and a fantastically written plot.

Forever My Girl is the first book in the Beaumont series. From what I can gather, these books should be read in order. However, this one can stand completely on it's own if you don't want to read an entire series. It sas it has it's HEA and all that good stuff that us romance lovers crave. If you want to continue the series you will be getting other couples romances from the secondary characters (who I also fell in love with). So YAY! I can't wait to read the rest of their stories.

ABOUT THE BOOK
I know many have already read this one but for those who haven't, I'll give you the scoop on what's going on within the story.

Liam left his high school sweetheart, Josie for a world of glamorous and stardom. But 10 years later he is forced to confront those who he had hurt when he returns home for a funeral of one of his oldest friends. He doesn't intend to stay in Beaumont, but sometimes the heart has other ideas...

Josie, a single mom, is trying to do best for her child, Noah. She's in a serious relationship with a great man, and life couldn't be any better. But when her best friends husband dies unexpectedly, Josie's whole world is thrown for a loop. Especially when her high school love comes back to town.

Thrust back into a world that both had long forgotten, these two are going to have to make amends because they have one thing in common... A son.

OVERALL THOUGHTS OF THE BOOK
I LOVED this book. It's emotional, charming, sweet, and heartwarming. It has one of my favorite tropes (a second chance love story) and the author does a wonderful job at making it feel both real and exciting.

The reason I gave this book 4/5 stars is because I desperately wanted more. I feel like it should have been a little bit harder for the characters to get back together, especially considering Josie was dating someone for over 6 years prior to Liam's return, and because of all the heartbreak he had caused her 10 years ago. Had it had a little more angst and the characters fought harder it would have seemed more realistic. No matter what though, it's still a fantastic novel and I am glad I picked it up today and read it in one sitting. It's a beautiful story.

Actual Rating: 4.5 stars

OMG, I don't know how i finished this. I definitely should have DNF'd after only a few chapters, and yet, I hate read it all.

Both of the main characters were so unlikeable. He's an idiot and whiny about his ex's new bf, when it's been ten years. And her new man treated her how she deserved! And raised his son! I hated almost everything about Liam, and was really rooting for him not to get his happy ending. Not without any real fight. he just strolls back in, and alls forgiven?

Also the way Noah was written, didn't seem like a 10 year old. It was just like a kid and a teenager all at once? Also, the romance they kept hinting at between literal children. Gross. I hated it so deeply. and it only made me angrier. That's really when I almost stopped. But I was too far in at that point, and just pushed through to finish it all, and never have to think about this book again.

Also Josie. My gosh do I also dislike her so much. She should have never given Liam the time of day she did. I get for Noah. But she really just fell right back in, without even a sorry. He left, for literally NO REASON, for 10 years. And then he shows back up and it's all fine? And then to even accuse her very recently widowed best friend of being with him? I hated her so deeply.

I haven't read a book that's made me this angry in a while. I am definitely not going to continue anything further in this. The fact they ended up together in the end was the worst possible ending in my opinion.

I came here because of the movie, which is one of my guilty pleasures/go-to when I need something nice.
To say I am disappointed by this book is an understatement.
The writing, the characters, the way the story evolves, the dynamics between characters…the ending.
The half star I am adding is just for the movie - which, by the way, should have been promoted as “inspired by” and not “based on”, as there’s almost nothing in common with the book apart from where the story starts.
