You know what's funny is, I watched the trailer for this because it popped up on my Instagram feed, and I was like, "This story COMPLETELY sounds like a romance novel. If this were a book, I would probably read it." And lo, here we are.

Okay, it wasn't bad. Some things were cliche, but I enjoyed it well enough.
I just watched the trailer for the movie, and like... They sure changed a lot of the details! I might go see it.

I absolutely love this book and all the characters (even though Josie needed a good smack now-and-again!). There wasn’t one that I didn’t like…that’s right, I even loved the ones I hated and that includes Sam!
Forever My Girl is light and fun and having read some heavy books this was a perfect story for me to dive into. What’s not to like about Josie and Liam?? Was it a predictable story, yes but they were so likeable that I didn’t care one bit!!! Sometimes, you just need a pinch of angst and a ton of chemistry and the rest takes care of itself. The story is told in an alternating POV and sometimes that can be distracting but this was a seamless transition each time.
While the Forever My Girl is predictable, the writing is fluid and the pace is almost perfect. I did think the tail end of the book wrapped-up a little too quickly for my taste and I wanted more of the back-story to Liam’s parents and why they were awful.
Over-all the pace is great and the writing I thought was simply fantastic!
Liam is the sexy musician who left town without looking back and leaving his high school sweetheart devastated. When he returns, all those same feelings are there and are those feelings ever-present!!! Liam is the kind of character that breaks your heart because he’s a people pleaser and in trying to finally please himself…he has a knee-jerk reaction that will impact him forever. Not only is it a knee jerk reaction but it’s definitely selfish but forgivable.
“Her tear-streaked face is beautiful. I want to wipe away her tears. I want to take the last ten years and erase them. I want to start over.”
My final two cents: I totally recommend this book because it’s a fun read and while there isn’t an element of surprise you will love every minute of Liam! And I can’t wait to read the second book…don’t worry, you aren’t left on a cliff-hanger! ;)

When someone that you know tells you that they wrote a book and it’s being published, there are a few things to worry about, one of which is how to break the news to them if you don’t like their writing. I had a few worries when reading this book but that was definitely not one of them. The first was how am I having so many emotions in such a short amount of time? First I’m crying, then I’m laughing, then crying again, then smiling like an idiot, etc. The second was that Heidi was going to get a restraining order on me because I couldn’t stop writing her about how much I was loving Forever My Girl. The third was having to wait impatiently until the next book in The Beaumont Series comes out.
Liam and Josie were High School sweethearts. Their lives were all planned out until Liam decided that their dream wasn’t his dream and he left to get everything he ever wanted. Or so he thought. When tragedy strikes and Liam heads back to his hometown for the first time since leaving, he plans on just getting a glimpse of Josie to make sure she is alright and to prove to himself that he made the right choice. Liam gets more than he planned when arriving home and realizes just how much he needs to be a part of Josie’s life again.
If I were to write everything I adore about this story, we would be here forever. I feel like I should put a disclaimer on this review that no matter what I write, it will not do the book justice because it’s that good. One of the many things that stuck out was the fluidity of Heidi’s writing. Forever My Girl has the perfect dose of description, dialogue, and inner monologues. When reading a book that has more of one than the other, it can get boring and repetitive, causing me to want to skip certain parts and get to the good stuff. I never felt this way when reading Forever My Girl, I wanted to cherish every word and put off reading the last chapter because I wasn’t ready for it to end.
The character development in Forever My Girl is stellar. A lot of books tell you who the characters are instead of showing you, therefore the readers minds are already made up about the characters before the root of the story even takes place. Without going too in depth, Heidi let the readers make up their minds about who her characters are. Even from the beginning, I could really feel what each character was feeling instead of just seeing it on the page.
Now let’s get to what everyone has been waiting for. Forever My Girl promises a hot rocker. Does it deliver? Abso-freakin-lutely. There is no way while reading this, I could not fall for Liam with all of his rocker hotness, his deep love for Josie, his fatherly love for Noah, and his huge heart. He is without a doubt one of my favorite male leads in a book. Josie does not disappoint either. As far as a main female character, she is a rarity. She stands her ground and looks out for herself and her family, without compromising her beliefs. She is definitely a strong woman and that is hard to find in books nowadays. And the sexual tension in this book…wowza!
For this being her first published book, Heidi McLaughlin knocked this one out of the ballpark. Even If she had written ten books prior, Forever My Girl would still be brilliance. But you need to find this out for yourself so if you haven’t read it yet, stop reading this review and GO BUY A COPY! Actually keep reading, there is some good stuff ahead. Congrats on your beautiful book Heidi, I look forward to reading more of your amazing work!

Liam and Josie's story was filled with emotion . I started crying in the first couple pages and cried many times throughout the book. It truly is a great story . you fall in love with all of these characters as you read page after page. It was like k was on an emotional journey.
This was my first foray into rocker love stories. It was a the perfect book for that. What a beautiful second chance love story. I enjoyed the different POV.
there was not so much anything wrong with this book, rather there just wasn't anything that was really right. it sat in the place where you hope something great might come from it, but it never really made it.
In a contemporary romance whether it is YA, NA or adult, there are 3 things that i look for, Characters, Plot, and steamy or adorable moments.
there were no real complications in this story and any that did rise up were swiftly swept under the rug in such a way that neither of our main characters really had to do, or could do anything about it. when you take out all the messy complications the plot fell apart... as did the characters. when everything flows so easily for the main characters there is no reason to barrack for them and in return... well you just don't care for them as much as you could. the characters themselves being walking stereotypes did not really help to define them and i can't say that they will stick in my mind, enticing me to read their story again... or even to discover what the next chapter in their lives bring. however this is not the first romance i have read that has fallen down on these two major parts and yet some others have still managed to rate quite well if only for the collection of cute and adorable or hot and steamy scenes contained within the pages... unfortunately despite the best effort of the author i found that lacking. flashbacks were used to try and give us some of the romantic moments that were missing but for me i found that these did not capture enough to make up for the downfall in the other two areas. coupled with a jolting, jarring timing this unfortunately made this book one i won't revisit.

sweet and heartbreaking (at times). wasn't always on- board with Liam and his actions, but love that he embraced his fatherhood.
I picked this up because I recently saw the movie on Netflix and really liked it. But this is one of those few instances where the movie is better than the book.
The writing reminded me of the book The Perfect Marriage; it was extremely simplistic and amateur. The dialogue was stilted and cheesy in a cringey way.
I also hated the logic and in more ways than one. I’ll give just one example but please know there were many: a side character dies at the beginning leaving behind his wife and two kids. How is it then, that some guy comes into the picture several weeks later interested in the widow and our main characters think they might start dating (maybe even marry)…the man who died isn’t even cold in his grave yet. Idk about you, but if my husband died and left me with children, the LAST thing I’d be thinking about is dating and possibly marrying a man who just came into my life. No one with two brain cells to rub together would think that story line makes sense. NO ONE.
