I loved the epistolary format of this one. I listened to the Audio and there was a full cast and they even made the interview sequences sound as if they were recorded differently than the journal entries. The audio production was a 10/10. The story however was soooo much a slow burn that for a good part of the book I forgot I was even reading a Sasquatch story. I was fully invested and immersed in the story in the beginning, but as it dragged on I found myself losing interest quickly. By the time all the action finally started happening (right at the very end... yawn) it was too little too late for me. Though, I will admit that it *was* brutal, action filled and intense when it finally did happen. I just really wish there had been more Sasquatch happenings.

If you are going to give away much of the book with the title, the character development probably needs to be A+. That's not the case here.

I enjoyed in the beginning but I don't know, maybe I don't care enough about Bigfoot, maybe I wasn't in the mood for doomed survivalist horror (I did like the structure though).

GREAT read. Audiobook ensemble adds another layer. Judy Greer was an amazing choice as Kate Holland, and really hope they cast her in the movie adaptation.

It’s great to live free of the other sheep until you hear the wolves howl.

4.5 stars...

...this is a very quick read, exciting and terrifying, but not always for the reason you think. Sure, the creatures were scary, but that’s all they were: creatures. What is scarier to me is what can happen to humans when faced with just a little adversity. How some can thrive, while others shrivel up and wilt away. How others can turn into predators, while a few wait impatiently for death. A major theme in this story is how we see our present through the lens of our past. Well, I’ve lead a charmed life. I have zero interest in any sort of leisure activity that doesn’t come with the promise of electricity. In my world, “camping” means sleeping in a tent in my backyard so I can go inside to get food, go to the bathroom, and charge my cell phone.

In other words, I’m fully aware that if I were isolated in nature, I wouldn’t survive a week. The difference between me and these people, though? I know that about myself, and I would never test fate. I will always live in the city. I don’t need to become one with nature to appreciate it. I already do.

In other words, self-awareness can be the most effective form of self-preservation, and at least I have an abundance of that
