Kate Stewart (MF author) is on my Permanent Do Not Read shelf for multiple issues.
The author has a well-documented history of: ableism (window licker, helmet special, special bus driver), Hitler jokes and fingerstache, ICE jokes, racial slurs, bad rep of latinas, having a white woman dress up as Madea (a black woman) and do an exaggerated blaccent, fetishizing gay men (Reverse), slut-shaming, and internalized misogyny.

Amazing
Beautifully written. The characters were so real, I felt like I knew them. I will remember and recommend this book often. Glad I took a chance on it despite crying rivers of tears! I recommend this book to everyone all the time!

One of the best books I have ever read. This is one solid story that is brilliantly written. It's an angsty military romance that will break your heart at times, but find a way to put it back together. It's an honest, gritty look at the challenges soldiers face when going off to war and returning to their lives afterward. There are some really hard things to read in this story, be prepared to feel emotional... and yet there were some really hysterical parts that I was laughing about. It's such a flawless story in that the words really have a way of wrapping themselves around you and seeping into your soul. All of the characters feel so real, complex... you find yourself riding the highs and lows with them. It makes you realize how strong people can be after facing the most horrifying things even when they think they are broken. We have the most infinite capacity for love, forgiveness and the ability to overcome. When I didn't think I could read any more, the courage of Briggs and Scottie pulled me right through.
This book was so good! I kept having to put it down because my heart couldn't take it! I didn't know how it was going to end, and it had me nervous the whole book what was going to happen. This is the first type of military book I have read in the recent years. I cannot imagine the pain Katy and Briggs went through. It's so hard to write more about this book, without giving anything away! Go check it out now!! .

This book....wow, this book is EVERYTHING...I want to thank both Heather and Kate for writing this.
As an Army veteran myself and also married to a Army combat veteran. I felt more in these pages than I have in a long while. This book made me ugly cry in the most beautiful way.
This story was beautifully written. It was honest, it was brutal and it was amazing.
This is the story of survival. It is a story of what happens when love changes and grows. It's about the devastation of war and its impact on a family. It's the challenges that makes you realize what really matters most in your life and the decisions made are not what may be best for everyone. But it's what's best for the person making them.
This story is about more than just Scottie and Briggs. It's about all of the characters in this book. And the multiple POV's just bring that fact home even more. I didn't know who to root for more. I could see the devastation and happiness in each and every character. That is a true testament to great writing.
At its heart, this story is about healing, it's about what traumatic experiences can do to a person. What traumatic effects do to a family and friends. It's about the strength it takes to realize that the enemy "failed" and you have to adjust to your new world view.
This story is going to be in my "Top Reads of 2018". Read this story! I had to step away a few times to catch my breath.
As an American soldier myself, I want to say thank you for writing this story. For writing with sensitivity, for writing with respect, for writing it with understanding and for writing it with love. Thank you...

This book is aptly named because it felt like it wrecked havoc on my heart. I don’t typically like love triangle books, and this one hurt. I probably wouldn’t choose to read it again but it was good. I loved both heroes and that was the hardest part. I wish Gavin had been the winner in the end, but I’m glad that everyone ended up happy after awhile. I don’t think Briggs had the ability to love anybody but Scottie, and vice versa after what they went through.

The way this book made me feel: emotional, gutted, happy, sad, scared, defeated, & grateful. It is one of the most emotional taxing books I’ve ever read. It’s not an easy read by any means. I felt so so conflicted the entire book about what I hoped the outcome would be. I have never wanted to simultaneously know the outcome & also not know the outcome so badly.

Not a fan of her cheating. Not a fan of her picking a f$&@boy over her bff. Not a fan in the least. Actually wanted to punch Scottie in her big blue beautiful eyeball.
