Pure torture. Wth. Just why? Brutal yet soft. The ending though, it just makes it that much more confusing. Besides Katy’s confusion between Gavin & Briggs, sigh, beautiful story but the love triangle left me 100% fustrated. I want to say I’m team Gavin, but I’m just not sure. This book will leave me thinking for days, and as a wife to a veteran the ptsd hit a place in my soul. Sigh. Read / listen only if you want your heart ripped out.

My heart wants to rate this book 5 stars, but my critical's reader mind will only allow a 3.5, rounded up.
I don't read romance.
And yet, here we are.
Going through a weird phase in my life, and this book was all I wanted, and needed, as a perfect distraction.
The first 60% were amazing, and I think the authors did an incredible job at describing what soldiers go through, at war, but even more importantly, when they come back from it.
The struggles, PTSD, guilt feelings.. everything was there, no sugar coating, and it was very well depicted.
I absolutely fell in love with Briggs, he's such a sweetheart, and his character was extremely well developed and complex.
I struggled a bit more with Katy, but couldn't imagine what she went through, so some her reactions, while not understood, were accepted on my part.
Although it was a beautiful story, I do think it's got some lengths that could have been shortened.
Some reactions from all our main characters were a bit sus, but I was fair-play and accepted them.
All in all, it was perfect for me, the book I needed at the right time.

This took me awhile to finish as I wasn’t SUCKED into the audiobook, but I thought it was very good! Though it’s a love triangle, which is a hard trope for many, I fell in love with each of the characters for different reasons. It’s emotional and heartbreaking at times, but builds you back up.
Both authors merged seamlessly. I couldn’t tell it was written by two authors, which is obviously the goal. Overall, I’d recommend!
