Absolutely Great

I read a lot of really good books- but this one was amazingly great. I ugly cried more than I like to admit, while devouring this epic love story. Wow- what an amazing, heart wrenching tale of love and perseverance. This tops my list of books to recommend- even if you don’t like emotional books, this one is worth it.

I was immediately sucked in to the story. Read it in one day.
I loved all the characters so much, they were written so well, they felt real.

I felt all the feelings for all these wonderful characters.

I had a favorite man, my heart broke for him over and over. What I didn’t expect was for my heart to break for the other man also and so strongly.

It sheds light on very important issues that war veterans and families face. All while telling a captivating and heart wrenching story that I LOVED!!

I loved the end even though my heart was broken and torn.
I haven’t moved on from these incredible characters and moving story. It will stay with me.
Incredible!!

"No, we won't be friends anytime soon, not with that kind of fire between us. Challenge accepted."

Oh dear, I have no idea where to start. This book teared up so many emotions, feelings and thoughts that my mind is running non-stop. I even dreamed about this book after finishing it last night. Heartbreak Warfare is one of the most intense books I've ever read and surely became one of my favorite reads this year. Just writing this review tears me up and I haven't even really begun.

I tell you one thing, if you are reading this review and haven't read the book I ask you to stop right now. Not because I will spoiler in my review, but I strongly believe that you should go in blind. The blurb tells you nothing and everything at the same time. Take it or leave it. But I'm sure reading this book without your expectations tainted by reviews and other's opinions is the best thing you can do to this book. However, a fair warning here: This book probably touches topics that might be triggers to you.

"We stand inches apart, but with the way that I yearn for his touch, it may as well be oceans."

I still have no idea what I just read. Or how I can explain in words what this book did to me, my mind and my emotions. Heartbreak Warfare is raw, it's intense, it's angsty, thrilling and so full of emotions. If there would ever be a scale with all kind of emotions, this book touches every single one and more. After reading Drive by Kate Stewart at the beginning of this year, I never thought I would read a book that makes me feel this angsty while reading it ever again. This urge to turn the pages, the racing heart, the breaking heart, the adrenaline that suddenly pumps through your veins - this is an unbelievable reading experience.

"No matter where the journey takes us, when I close my eyes, it will be your face I see. When I breathe my last breath, your name will be on my lips."

This book shows, while honorably touching a very sensitive and important topic, what war does to this world, to the people fighting it, to the people trying to keep the peace, to the innocent people caught in the crossfire. War is a horrible thing, it's poison to this world and I truly wish we could erase this thing from earth. We can't thank enough those brave people out there fighting for peace, people who have families at home and who have no idea how much such an experience will change them. And who have no idea about the impact everything has on their future way of life.

"I can't seem to forget the way my heart beat in time with yours. The truth is I'm lost without you."

But what's almost as heartbreaking as war is being in love with two people. It shreds you into bits and pieces with no idea how to put back the puzzle pieces. The two authors did a fantastic job in creating three characters that work so wonderful together. It all felt so real like it was happening to me. I guess that was the reason why I couldn't cut the ties and dreamed about this story.

"When it comes to you, my heart will always cross the line."

I thought a lot about if I should write something about the characters, their interactions, their chemistry and attraction and decided that I won't. They are all so special with so much depth and development, that you should experience them yourself, through your eyes, through the eyes of the authors. Kate and Heather did a great mix of changing POVs and even though Gavin's POVs are the minority, they were able to create only with a few words a convincing character that steals your heart right away. Each character deals with his own heartache in such a believable way that touches you deeply.

"Ocean blue meets amber sunset. And it's beautiful. It's healing. It's life-altering. It's inevitable."

Heartbreak Warfare is almost indescribable. Reading this book is an intense experience you most likely will never forget. It will rock you to the core and gives you all the feels. Be prepared for something you can never be prepared for!

"I went to war loving one man and came back in love with another."

"Run far and fast, dance that sexy dance, have that second baby. Smile, Scottie. Lighten up, tell jokes, live a long and happy life, for me."

Wow what a story. Such an emotional rollercoaster. Katy and Gavin were a happily married military couple and Heartbreak Warfare started when Katy left Gavin, and their son Noah, for her deployment to Baghdad where she met Briggs. They went through near death experiences together and fell in love. Torn between the two men and her PTSDs, Katy fought for the life she wants for herself and her son.

Heartbreak warfare is one of those books that challenge your moral values. Though it shouldn't be, Katy and Briggs felt right in a way. The authors create very sympathetic characters that I can't help and root for them all. The story is very fast paced, there was never a dull moment. The reason it's not a five stars read is because, somehow, I feel like there's something missing. Though Katy and Briggs seem like they fit together, her and Gavin seem to fit together even more. The epilogue is good but it doesn't convince me the endgame was what it's supposed to be; it felt hollow. But maybe that's the most realistic HEA these three can get. All in all, an amazing read.

Dear lord this book…. ♥️♥️♥️

Nothing I've read before could have prepared me for the emotional and mental ride Heartbreak Warfare took me on. This book is a must read for so many reasons. I was completely engrossed from the beginning until the very end.

Living in extreme situations changes someone; no ifs, ands, or buts about it. When you face your own mortality and come out the other side you see life differently; hence the term Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD. In my opinion, the acronym has desensitized some of the severity of what the disorder really means, but that is my opinion. In Heartbreak Warfare the authors have done an amazing job showcasing what living with this illness means to not only the individual, but also to everyone who touches their lives.

The book also brings you the frontline of what the American soldier lives while serving our country. In Heartbreak Warfare you are dropped into the middle of Iraq. Katy "Scottie" Scott is an army nurse, serving her country overseas by patching up the soldiers who are continually putting their lives on the line. She wonders every day if she made the right decision in leaving her family to save so few of the damaged men who cross her medical table.

Christopher Briggs serves his country on the frontline in the infantry. A career soldier with no wife or children waiting for him at home, his love for his job and his country make him the perfect soldier. He's quick with a joke, a man the other soldiers look up to, but from the first day Katy arrives he can't seem to break through her armour.

In another life, another time, Briggs and Scott may have been friends, they may have even been more, but Scott is married and has a son. Scott longs to return home to the life she once knew. Briggs pushes for friendship, even toeing the line with his flirty banter living the only life he's familiar with. While the two try to find a balance between friendship and partnership, nothing could have prepared them for what happened next.

Will anything be the same when or if they make it out of the desert?

I won't add spoilers at this point because what happens alters everything, literally the entire course of the book. The authors do give warning before you begin the book that they hold nothing back. This is a book about war and to portray the events that unfold they leave no stone unturned. If it will offend, cause triggers, or anything graphic just isn't in your taste then this book may not be for you. I will tell you that it is detailed, but it is not tasteless. I was so engrossed in the story that I couldn't stop reading.

Heartbreak Warfare is, for lack of a better word, profound. A story that needs to told. Both to shed light on PTSD and to shine a light on the American soldier.

I loved this story, very gripping and emotional. I loved Briggs, but I also really liked Gavin. I didn’t like the cheating, and I don’t know why the story could have been told a little differently, why didn’t the authors make it so Gavin wasn’t the love of her life? It seemed she just chucked him away. I did read this story reading the reviews and finding out who she ending up with, for me this was important, otherwise I would have set myself up for a fall if I preferred one male character I’ve the other.
