It's literally there in the name. This book will break your heart. It's gritty. It's raw. Part of it takes place in a war setting so it's rough reading at times.
But don't let that put you off, please. I beg you to read this.

RIP to my heart and soul. I don’t know how I’m going to move on. This book covers some very dark and potentially triggering events.
If you want to have your heart twisted up, and your stomach in knots, this book is like heartbreak to healing x1000.
A well written and edited book. I think I struggled with some of plot but that’s a personal preference thing.

There was so much hype around this book and it just didn’t live up to it for me. Everyone said it would break your heart and being a Kate Stewart fan I was prepared to be bawling like I was after then Ravenhood series but I never got even close to that. Maybe it’s because I’m not a fan of war but idk this book did not do it for me.

I don't even know what to say except the unexpected happened. For me at least.
Here's what I loved. If you have any first hand experience with family and/or friends who have gone gone off to war, who have served in some capacity and returned completely different people for reasons they may not be able to vocalize or want to relive, you will go THROUGH IT with this story. These people are so beautifully broken and how they would find happiness is what kept me going. Was I 100% happy with the outcome? No. But I pretty quickly realized I would be reading a story that was not going to fit my version of a HEA, and that's ok. It was beautiful anyway, to see how the twists and turns of life shaped the live's and hearts of these characters.
With that said, this is beautifully narrated. I could feel the highs and lows and thought the narrators did the characters justice. The emotions were real with this one!

So I would 100% recommend going into this book blind. Obviously from.the title you can see that it's going to be a touch emotional. In order to not ruin it for others who not I am not going to describe this. This book was a emotional.book from all characters. Anytime you write a military romance so many people are affected by decisions and circumstances. Veterans everyday deal with their mental of what they have went through and then their families are also experiencing that. This book weighed you down and made me feel very much like I was the fmc and battling day in and day out. I think some are going to love this book or be upset but all I can say is life happens, decisions are made and you have to have grace to move forward with any type of mishap in your life. I think this book no one was ever going to be truly happy and that's probably why I vant give it a 5 because I was one of those feelings were def feeling in this book..
