A fun read with little drama and lots of YA tropes. I accept the book as a parody and got my critical side down as I read it. I enjoyed the book despite not liking the writing style. However, the characters were amazing and fun. Worth the read to get away from a boring lifestyle.
cute ig, no literary master piece, but it was a quick read, would have preferred more existential dread tho? like is that just me?

i think that i need to add that i went into this book wanting an enemies-to-lovers trope cliché shallow book to distract me from the mountains of work and school that are in my life rn so i very much expected what it was going to be like and therefore none of the absolutely ridiculous things and plot points bothered me, something that would definitely have been different if that hadn’t been the premise

Oh man the pacing was so bad and rushed and i thought this was gonna be more focused on their romance but in the end all i got was teen friends doing teen stuff and an attempt to love triangle that no one wanted to be a part of

I loved the concept for this novel, but the characters and plot fell flat for me. I think multiple narrators would have helped develop the characters a bit more. Overall, they were bland and made the sci-fi alternative world more unbelievable. I found myself caring more about Trevor and Natalie's relationship over the main love triangle. Oh boy. Oh boy.Oh boy.
That, is by far, the most disappointing read of 2017.And to think, I was excited to read this.Ughh.
A book needs something going its way to be interesting, anything. This book had nothing going its way.The initial 30% was so boring, I thought: I am probably going to sleep through it.
But I didn't and I have never been more proud of myself.

You get the gist of it, I hope.That was not what I expected at all.
The Love Interest is not a bad book, but it doesn't live up to its many ambitious promises. The premise and pacing were strong enough to pull me through the lackluster prose and surface-level storytelling. It was entertaining enough - just disappointing given how excited I was about it.
