Apparently I read this book 2 years ago??? LOL I didn't remember until I was maybe, halfway through. Still enjoyed it; didn't remember the ending but I still liked it. I had the same bookmarked quote as my last reading. LOL

Sigh. I loved Perfect Ruin so much that I had a feeling Burning Kingdoms might fall short. It did.

While Lauren DeStefano is a great writer and this book was well written, it was SO. SLOW.

The pacing was slow and I felt lost for most of the book. While I guess you could say character development happened, this book SO different from Perfect Ruin. I totally realize it's a different "world" but goodness... so different!

I've never had a book bore me with such beautiful writing like this one did. However, the ending was sufficient enough for me to want to read the next book. Darn cliffhangers.

This book suffers from second book syndrome. No plot and slow pacing. The original premise was so interesting and I had no idea how she jumped shark.

I liked this book far more than her first - though she continues to be extremely long-winded (though beautifully)and sometimes I found myself begging her just to get to the point already.

In this continuation we see further character development out from the Internment folks - all put the Dr. really. Characters that were not so likeable the first time around I found myself developing a soft spot for and those that I liked heavily in the first volume I found myself flinching when they were mentioned.

I was introduced to characters from the ground, all of which had interesting personalities. I look forward to seeing them develop further and the role in which they will play in the next book.

Um, February 2014, that's wrong, right, since the first one just came out in Oct of 2013! I know that's wrong, someone correct me if I am...
Ah, I see they corrected it. Not loving the date, but it will be worth it, I'm sure.

Loved this book, and seeing them on the ground, and the new characters that we met! Really awesome, and I need to read more!

I took my time with this one for sure what with life.. I still have to talk about that on the blog.. Anyway, I didnt enjoy this that much in the beginning but with time I started to.. And by the end of the book I definitely did.. I love DeStefano's writing.. And I cant wait to read the final book from her in this trilogy.. which I should have done soon.. Because--

I had early excess to Broken Crowns via Edelweiss but it has expired now.. So the cry fest begins..

Among other things, need to finish her Chemical Garden trilogy.

The characters didn't engage me as much as the first one and the first half of the book moved very slowly. The last section moved the story forward more and I'm not sure what to expect from the next book.

The first book was more intriguing, this one lagged quite a bit
