Having read other things by Elise Kova, I was definitely not expecting the strong "I'm not like other girls" "humble heroine" energy that permeated the beginning of this book. The first part just felt too much like a rough draft with some very weird scenes *cough*

the male lead asking our main character if she masturbates before pushing her off a building???

*cough cough*. I think that what kept me going through this book was a kind of sick pleasure almost? There are far too many tropes to name, and yet I found myself looking forward to reading it; somehow it scratches that romantasy heroine adventure itch that I crave. Once all the character relationships are establish, the quality of the book remarkably improves and its genuinely fun seeing the characters interacting. Overall, I wouldn't come to this book looking for a plot, but rather a fun casual romantasy that you just need sometimes to turn the brain off.

me pareció un muy buen comienzo de saga y la forma en que crea este mundo te hace creer que estás ahí y te involucra a lo largo de la historia.
el desarrollo de los personajes y como se relacionan con la magia también estuvo muy bien logrado y te da lugar para los libros que siguen. el romance, aunque no es lo principal, toma un papel importante y te lleva a sufrir!!!!

I really enjoyed this book so much that I had to grab the second immediately from the kindle store.

This is a book about a young woman who discovers she just might be a sorcerer, after growing up knowing that magic is to be feared. She is currently a voracious reader who works in the castle's library until she has to help solve the problem of how to heal the prince....

I read 2 chapters and just couldn’t engage with the writing. I could tell that if I finished this book, it would just be another 3⭐️. It also reads more on the younger side of YA.

I really liked the pacing of the book. Something was always happening, which kept the story moving along even though it was more character driven rather than plot.

I will say that the FMC was a littler frustrating at times. But I appreciated her growth towards the end.

I enjoyed the characters and the attention to world building. Will definitely continue the series.
