I loved this book. I sped through it in just a couple days. And I love Vhalla!
So, first off, this book did take me a bit to get into. However, once I did I couldn't put it down!
A lot of it reminds me of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but it has such differences of both storyline and characters that it's not at all a copycat story.
I loved the different types of magic, but also the reality of the distrust of things unknown. I see that so much in our world that it was refreshing to see it in a book. I also loved the action, adventure, comedy, and romance that were in the book.
Definitely a read I'd recommend to any Fantasy lovers! Also, if you like stories involving princes, sorcerors, and library attendants this book is for you! It was also very clean however, warning, there is a scene where someone is abused.

“Fire needs air to live. Air fuels fire, stokes it, and makes it burn brighter and hotter than it ever could alone. But too much air will snuff it completely, just as too many flames will consume all the air. They are far greater than the sum of their parts together, but are equally as dangerous to each other’s existence.”
I saw this as a recommendation for a Fourth Wing Slump a while back, and I’m so glad I finally got around to it!! It’s Fantasy Romance with elemental magic… a scribe that is discovering history that has been erased… and some angst-filled note passing between the FMC and MMC that I ATE UP. This reads largely YA with some mature themes, similar to Plated Prisoners or Hunger Games.
I can’t wait to see more from broody and mysterious Prince Aldrik in book 2!
“In a horrible way, he was like a song of death and flame”
“There are good men among the wicked in this world, donning the fleece of the innocent.”

(3.5 stars) Vhalla accidentally destroyed like one building and her punishment is mandatory conscription into the fucking army with zero training. Literally don’t see how those two things equal each other but okay
