This Woven Kingdom

I was not expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did! Really interesting & rich mythology and Persian references, with leads who I really rooted for, both individually and together. I really appreciated how the FMC actually has personality traits, and talents, and dreams, outside of the trauma and oppression she’s faced. The themes around division and prejudice were also surprisingly well done, for example when the rich MMC couldn’t understand why the FMC would be so fussed about some medical supplies that to him cost barely any money - but to her was her entire wage - it felt like an actual character arc for him to deepen his connection and understanding of her - rather than sort of being her saviour or something.

The implication at the end was of a secondary love interest to be explored in the second book - so can’t wait for the love triangle to come!

Immediate review: This Unraveling ending…that’s all! Bye

UPADTED REVIEW:

”I haven't the slightest idea what we're doing," he said softly. “Though if you mean to take me captive, you need only ask. I would come willingly."

This Woven Kingdom came highly recommended from several of the friends and it did not disappoint, it is important to point out that while I enjoyed Tahereh's Shatter me overall, I wasn't head over heels about it so I had my doubts when I picked up this one. However this one has been an absolute pleasure to read, the writing style which is what I had issues with in her other series is completely different in this one in a good way that is. So if you are someone who is on the fence because of Shatter me, I say take the leap because the book is worth the hype!

This Woven Kingdom doesn't just have mesmerizing writing but also has a very immersive narrative style, Tahereh had done mighty fine job building the world rather brilliantly transporting you to the grand Persian inspired world. The characters an absolute delight because they are smart, witty and have a lot of depth. Alizeh's character is chef's kiss and her back story is so intriguing, she is self sufficient, brilliant and resilient. Kamran's character and the role he plays reminded me a LOT of Warner from Shatter Me but again in a good way. I have seen several reviews complaining about pacing but personally it is flawless for me, if you loved Daevabad and An Ember In The Ashes, This Woven Kingdom is sure to please you especially if you are intimidated with above series and wished for a YA version, your prayers have been answered!

Overall the book is a flawlessly woven with the blend of hypnotizing writing, strong characters, plot that drives the characters and characters that drive the plot, Jinn Magic, political intrigue. A strong beginning to a trilogy with immense potential and the ending that is sure to stupefy you, I still stand by my immediate review above about the ending ;)

What can you expect

OMG! 🤭What did I just read? It was amaaazinngg. I loved this book sm, it is was a perfect fantasy book. The characters are amazing, I loved the diverse personalities they had. Everything about the book was perfect, specially the setting, the vibes were incredible and very well described. The plot is also very interesting, and the tension at the last 50 pages 🫣. And that ending??? Hello??? Can’t wait to continue. I am so glad I started this series after Shatter Me, I love Tahereh’s writing style, she writes so beautifully 😭🩷. I have the feeling like this series may be one of my favs fantasy books🤭

Very old-fashioned writing that was confusing & slow at times, but a fun read.

Totally forgot who the author was and did not expect the change in love interest OOPS. Thought I would hate it cause Kamren was so in love with Alizeh & it was very beautifully written BUT I do love a mysterious man and I kinda enjoyed the introduction of Cyrus.
