I absolutely loved the first 65ish% of this book. I could not put it down. The rest of this book pissed me off. I loved how strong of a character Billie was in the beginning, but by the end she turned into a selfish child. I seriously don’t think I’ve ever been this let down in a book. I’m still giving it three stars just because of how good the first part was. Also, she did end up with who I wanted her to end up with, so that’s a plus.
I wanted to love this--because it's Tarryn f*cking Fisher and she's a genius--but I just couldn't. The first 60-70% (I didn't look) was great! I was loving Billie and the new life she was building for herself, but then things started to feel rushed and chaotic and very inauthentic. People forgave and forgot so quickly and easily that is was hard for me to continue believing in their story. There was a subplot that I felt was all but forgotten and the ending felt very rushed compared to the first half. Not a terrible book, by any means. Tarryn's writing is always amazing. I just struggled to stay connected for the last 30% or so.

I actually purchased this book when it was first released and got it signed by Tarryn at a book signing in 2019. The book has since sat on my bookshelf for almost 3 years. Time flies! Oops.
Overall I found F*ck Marriage to be an enjoyable read. I found myself comparing it to her Opportunist series. The characters were fleshed out well as almost all of Tarryn's characters are. I like that they have real faults and aren't all magical perfect unicorn people. Billie is not my favorite character though. I really just wanted to grab her by the shoulders, shake her, maybe slap her a couple times and tell her to STOP. IT.
I, like most reviewers, didn't care for the second half of the book as much as the first. The ending definitely seemed rushed. For fans of Tarryn I would recommend this book. If this is your first Tarryn Fisher book I would suggest The Opportunist series.

This book is the perfect example of why Tarryn Fisher is my favorite author. No matter what genre she tackles, she manages to engage me, challenge my ideals, and inspire me in ways I never thought possible. She doesn’t try to fit into a cookie cutter mold. She is bold and unapologetic and I respect the hell out of her for it.
This story is about heartbreak, revenge, second chances, love, marriage, divorce, and friendship. But above everything, it’s a story of endurance and the strength of the human spirit. Tarryn writes that “as humans, we grieve harder than we ever tried.” I can’t think of a more truer statement than that. It’s in grief that we truly appreciate all that we’ve lost. If only I could’ve tried harder, called more often, said things when I had the chance. We lose ourselves in the “if only’s.” Grief can be all consuming if we let it & it can take a lifetime to dig ourselves out of the pain. Sometimes we never truly surface again and other times, we come back stronger and wiser and maybe a little more cynical.
I don’t have the same life experiences as Billie, but it doesn’t matter. Tarryn makes her relatable and helps you see things as Billie sees them. It’s immersive. You feel like you’re experiencing everything right along with her. It’s a testament to Tarryn’s gift as an author.
I could sing the praises of this book all day, but in the end, my message will always be the same. Read this book. Take the time. You’ll be so glad you did.

3.5 a bit of a mess in a car wreck day time soap opera kind of way
I wanted to love it more. The 1st part was amazing the 2nd part was good but thr 3rd part didnt make any sense to me and was rushed.
I both loved and hated this book at times!!! I cried and then I'd want to throw it. Such a powerful and weak leading character that you just wanted to shake at times.
"We aren't meant to stay the same. Life hits us from every direction, and we build thick skin in those places... calluses. It's the way we survive."
"I don't have calluses yet," I blurt. "In that spot... where my marriage was."
Tarryn is such a great writer. She pulls you in. I have so many quotes highlighted, I wouldn't even know where to start. I will say that it lost a star for me because the ending seemed rushed. There was a storyline with no end. It just felt like the word count had been met.
