F*ck Marriage

Tarryn Fisher

4.0 AVERAGE

What I liked most about this story was the palpability and rawness of emotions. Real people face strongly conflicting emotions at times. The author did a great job showing that not every person grieves a loss, moves on, etc. the same as another.

Speechless, absolutely speechless

When I first began reading this book, I wasn't able to dedicate a lot of time to it...but as soon as I had the time, I devoured it. I would've finished it sooner if it weren't for the fact that Tarryn Fisher loves to play with my emotions. There were so many instances where I had to stop reading, set the book aside, and take a few deep breaths to process what was happening. There were so many instances in which I was left speechless by the content of the book. Multiple times I was left yelling at my phone (I have the kindle version) because things weren't going the way they were "supposed to". Overall, I loved every single words of this book and the ending had me with the world's largest smile on my face. I'm ready to read it again.

Billie, Woods, and Satcher are sometimes infuriating yet addicting characters. They have a love triangle of sorts. They constantly hurt each other and no one seems to know what they want. But there I was still cheering for Billie throughout it all. I think what makes it interesting is that even though Woods was an idiot the author still writes the perspectives in a way that makes you feel for him too even though he’s supposed to be the bad guy. I wondered throughout the story how much Billie ever loved Woods and how much of it was the idea of what it was or the easy rhythm they fell into. She often went back and forth with her thoughts on this and you could never quite figure out where she stood.

I went into this book not even having read the blurb but I knew it was going to be good. And boy was it good.
The drama, the romance, the bitchiness, the anticipation, the heartache, the strong female characters, the hots guys. It was all perfect.
Two years after her divorce, Billie returns to New York to exact revenge on her ex husband and the woman who stole him away. But Billie soon realises that the revenge isn't what's making her happy.
Satcher has loved Billie for as long as he's known her. So when she comes back he knows he has to try again to fight for her.
But Billie has a hard time seeing past her revenge and Satcher has his own drama to deal with.
I loved all of the book, even the stuff I hated because it made the story so much more realistic. The characters, the things they do, all the good, the bad and the ugly made this story another favourite of mine.

I stayed up until 2am reading this because I was invested in how the book was going to end. Tarryn took me on a journey with Billie and although the beginning and middle of the book was addicting, the ending left me wanting... a lot.

I felt the first half of the book and the last half was written by two different people.

I guess the biggest let down was the lack of growth from any of the characters and even though the ending was what I was hoping, there was an abruptness to it that made me regret losing sleep.

2.5 book-gasms

This book took me on an emotional roller coaster. It was great though. I really liked the main character Billie. But I truly loved that Billie finally found herself and her person.

Fuck Marriage, And don’t forget the ice.

Once again, Tarryn doesn’t disappoint. Although I will say, this is the first book I’ve read that was a bit predictable, but still a fantastic read!
