So difficult to get past the awful writing, especially when it came to the dialogue. All conversations in this book were like chatbots talking to each other. Only gave it 2 stars because I managed to finish it.

This is one of the worst books I’ve ever “read”. Can’t say I fully read it but I forced myself to 15% then quickly skimmed until the end. This is horrible. The writing is not great, I can’t stand when authors don’t use contractions realistically in dialogue. Everything was so horribly awkward and cringey. Olive is a doormat and a child, she comes across as so immature, Jason is disgusting. I hate the “little one” nickname is just came off as so condescending and gross. Him and Marcus are both jealous in a cringey way. Ugh. The intimate scenes made me want to throw up-sorry. The whole storyline is just a big, what is happening? Married? Because he was your childhood friend (barely) who forgot about you when he made it big? This is such a miss it’s not even funny.

This book follows Olive who grew up always having a crush on her older brother’s bff Jason. Now 8 years after he moved away she is 22 & has published a indy book loosely based on Jason. It’s getting picked up to become a movie and who has been casted to play the main role? Oh Jason Thorn he childhood crush turned hollywood bad boy. His reputation is not so good and his PR people want him to be taken more seriously. Olive might just be the perfect candidate for the job.

This is a cute one-time read for when you want to pick up something simple and easy-going. It has a good amount of butterflies in the stomach moments; however, I felt like the author rushed to end the book, and there were a lot of scenes that felt incomplete. For example, how did they clear out Jason's scandle or the fact that I would have loved to see a little more from the reunion scene between Jason and Olive's family.

I had a fun time reading about the spark and connection between Olive and Jason, and I also loved the friendship angle between Olive and Lucy.

The reason why I picked up this book was solely based on the two tropes: 'brother's best friend' or 'fake marriage'. I won't say the book was bad, but I wish the ending was rushed.
