I probably would have given this a higher rating, but I just couldn’t get over the “white man swoops in to save the marginalized people” trope - in this case a lesbian couple who own a restaurant.

This book was a much different tone than Stephen King's usual stuff and the uplifting message of it all was nice to see. However, I have come to realize in the past few years that aside from his classics, I'm not sure how much I enjoy his work. He's a talented writer, but his voice in the writing is always clear and just not my vibe.
Also, classifying this book as horror is simply wrong. Go in not expecting fright, but some mystery and heart. Thank you to my mom for insisting for months I read this book until I finally picked it up off my shelf.

Not a horror book. Just a short, sweet little feel good book.

It's like a fable. It's been awhile since I read something where I loved the main character. It was beautiful and touching at the end, but with a premise like this, we can have a little fantastical optimism.

Scott has been losing weight but remaining the same size. He confides in his friend Doctor Bob. He also has an ongoing spat with his lesbian neighbors. As he continues his weightloss he reaches out to try to resolve it.

Quick one day read, not scary which surprised me because it's a King novel but kept me entertained and gave me a Benjamine button vibe.
