Great characters, but such a brief SK that I don't really know what to make of it!

I’m giving this book 5 stars because, while not bone-chilling leave the light on horror, it still engaged & thrilled me.

This was a short story by the master of suspense! It didn’t do it for me. The story was interesting and writing was nice with great imagery however the overall plot was lacking. I feel like it made a better idea than it actually was executed. I am such a big King fan but this just didn’t grab me. It was entertaining and kind of amusing but that was more the premise of him losing weight mysteriously and the quirks around it. But the main plot of the “townsfolk helping around him”? Swing and a miss. Without spoiling, a few social interactions seemed ridiculously unlikely and unrealistic. All in all, it was a fast audiobook and entertaining but nothing to write home about.
I liked this novella, but it felt a bit lacking. There needed to either be MORE, more character development, more reason for this story. Or it should've be a part of short stories anthologies that he's done before. But ultimately it was Stephen King, so even a slightly lacking story is still a GREAT story.
A brisk read, and a wonderful little tale of how much more you can enjoy life when you don't let the usual things weigh you down (metaphorically, but also literally in this case). Classic King, albeit one that leans even more heavily into a liberal and open-hearted viewpoint to allow him to keep prodding and irritating the MAGA crowd.

A little fairy tale without any sort of happy ending. I would have loved that the price was compatible with the number (very low) of pages.
