I picked to read this one in October for Halloween. Little did I know that this particular book of King’s was not a horror read. Haha, Halloween turned into October’s Fool for me, I suppose.
But still, the idea of the story was interesting. A lot of people want to lose weight. But what if you could lose your weight, yet still physically look the same? In fact, whatever you carry or wear cease to have any weight. Any weighing machine would register your weight as less and less as the days go by. Would that be something good, or something bad?
The story also touched on neighbourly relations. How a small community could turn on one of them if that person was different or new. How sometimes misunderstanding could occur but if you give a chance, in *some* circumstances, those people could turn out to be the one to understand you the most.
I thought it was a nice read. Not for Halloween, but if you want a quick read in between heavier reads.
It was an easy read for me
And I hate it when king keeps the mystery a mystery and ends it
But he kinda does that quite often so
A okay okay one before going to bed.

This was okay. The writing was very good, but I struggle to understand the point. I thought maybe the weight loss was a metaphor for cancer, but I really think King needs to get over his hatred of fat people. Also, this is basically a white savior narrative except instead of race, it’s sexuality. So, I mean. But it’s well-written.

The stories are good, as most all of the Stephen King stories. However, they just were not my favorite stories. Elevation was pretty good, then it ended with Laurie. It was also good. Cute story about a dog and gator but again it was not as good as the first story and not my favorites in general of his stuff.
Read this book in one day. Not a bad book; however, I think that way more could have been added to this to make it more interesting. Story was a little bland.

A nice short read by SK. Easily done in one sitting which is what I did. Chilled in the bath with the treat of a new King story. A feel good story if you will, which is not often what he is known for. But he weaves his usual magic & readability that I can not help but love. Great way to spend a bit of time on a Sunday evening & unwind.
