I picked up this book because I wanted to dip my toe into the waters of Stephen King, and I think that this is not a true showing of who he is as a writer, because this is not a horror novel. Still, I did find the book had interesting aspects to it. The themes of mortality throughout are introspective and thoughtful, though simplistic at times.
Honestly I'm not sure what I think about it. And I have not made any clear distinctions about whether or not I'll continue with Stephen King's works going forward.

I love a good scary King story. This is not that. But I loved it anyway. There is a reason that King is considered a master storyteller, and I have found that some of his “not-so-scary” stories are among his best in showcasing that mastery. This pulls you in and you can’t let go until you see what happens. In a tiny little novella, you come to care about the characters and wish them well. It’s a quiet story with just a touch of the supernatural, and can be read in one sitting. My only regret was that I finished it so quickly. Alas, now I must await his next book.

I only got 35% in, but it was not good. I also generally like when authors narrate their own books, but I did not like Stephen King’s narration here.
