This is my first Stephen King book I’ve ever read. I expected horror. I expected boring long winded sentences that don’t make sense. I expected to have to hide my book in the freezer cause it’s too scary like Joey from Friends. I did not expect to ugly cry for man that’s story lasted 146 pages. He is the King for a reason. I need to go read something funny now cause my heart hurts and I miss Scott.

oh, so now the guy who uses a slur every five words is going to preach to me about intolerance?
it rubs me the wrong way that a man who includes slurs in EVERY one of his books and has NEVER had a main character (IT and Cell don't really count, the former because the couple is only there to die brutally, the latter because it felt more like a joke than anything else) be LGBT is suddenly going to write a book about tolerance, especially when he's going to include a cishet white man doing his cishet white savioring bullshit. it feels so hollow and performative and sleazy and disgusting because the characters in this novel just feel like props, a backdrop to whatever the hell is going on with Scott. there is no nuance nor depth and King has no ground to stand on and tell people that they should be OPEN and ACCEPTING given his history and the stereotypes and hatred that have been recurring themes in his body of work since the beginning of his career. this is pandering to the fullest extent, in the worst possible way, an absolute insult to the community, and I can't believe he's so delusional he would think he could get away with this and think he's actually doing something GOOD with this garbage pile of a 'novel'

This was...fluff. It just felt like something I would have read in my undergraduate creative writing courses from someone who had talent but hadn't quite honed in on his or her skill yet. It was an easy enough read, but the whole concept was sort of...I don't know, lacking bite? I know that King doesn't SOLELY write horror, but that's what he's best at (IMO) and this definitely isn't horror. It's more like mediocre fantastical horror-adjacent.
Not bad, but I also saw no reason to continue reading.
