A quick read. 3.75 stars as the story progresses slowly and the story it self is slightly dull but still enjoyable. Some sad moments that keep you invested. The length of the book helps one to breeze through it.
“It was life. You were stuck with it and all you could do was live it”
Beautiful
"Beautiful" is not a word often used to describe King's books. But this one is. It's the story of an extraordinary thing that happens to an ordinary man, and the extraordinary way he deals with it.

Two SK novellas: “Elevation” is considerably better than “Laurie”, most probably due to the superior character development. “Laurie” felt like a sequel to something I never read, so if a precursor exists, then I fault my ignorance for my inability to fully connect with or enjoy what otherwise seems like a forgettable afterthought or requisite filler.
Enjoyable and quick, yet fulfilling read
A nice change of pace from typical King novels. Still some of the supernatural phenomenon, but not in a scary way. King still manages to make you feel for the characters and this brings with it, a small moral lesson we can all use.

By far the worst thing King has ever written. I wonder if he even actually wrote it himself. It's pandering, out-of-touch drivel, with shoe-horned in modern politics that are sure to age like milk, and the ending is just plain DUMB.
Meh.
Just a story.
Enough to make me want to finish it, but not spectacular.

A delightful little homage to Richard Matheson; a clone of 'The Incredible Shrinking Man' that explores a different parameter from the one used in the original - weight instead of stature - and plays a little with physics to arrive at the pyrotechnic final effect. Perhaps helped by the brevity of the novella, for once, Uncle Steve does not mess with the ending and gives all Matheson lovers a magnificent experience.
amazing book! read it in one go, on a trip to florida. didnt take but 2 pages for me to be fully engrossed in the story, and the characters were unique and grew throughout the short book.
