Not offensive in any way, just boring. Not a strong example of his storytelling ability. Skip it.
We have all had an off day at work where you sit in front of your computer and would be literally anywhere else but at the office. You have tons of deadlines looming, so you just buckle down and get it done, even if it’s not your best work at least you made the deadline.
It feels as if Stephen King had an off day at work when he wrote this. It’s hard to believe this is the same author that wrote Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Shining, 11/22/63……..
Even though the concept was good, for me the story never elevated above the mundane and forgettable. Had it been an unknown writer I may have been a bit more lenient but from a master writer like Stephen King this was disappointing.

It was fine. Overall, he felt a bit patronizing in his tone.
A small slice of life, with a heavily liberal story that I found slightly healing but more preachy. I wish the ending had more of an answer but I get why not.
“Time is invisible. Unlike weight. Ah, but maybe that wasn't true. You could feel weight, yes—when you were carrying too much, it made you ploddy but wasn't it, like time, basically just a human construct? Hands on a clock, numbers on a bathroom scale, weren't they only ways of trying to measure invisible forces that had visible effects? A feeble effort to corral some greater reality beyond what mere humans thought of as reality?”

Still an enjoyable read, and I still hoped for a better outcome.
Everyone should have this, he thought, and perhaps, at the end, everyone does. Perhaps in their time of dying, everyone rises.

A very short and ultimately upbeat novella about change and acceptance. I haven't read King in a long time, but I do like his writing and find that when I pick up one of his books, it pretty much always delivers for me.
I liked the characters enough in Elevation that I hoped for a different ending, but it is King after all.

King will always be my favorite. I love that he managed to evoke goosebumps and good feelings with less than 200 pages.
