As I started this book, I felt all the excitement of a fairytale with a tinge of dread from all the political scheming taking place in this book.

Holly Black continues to spin a tale that is the true definition of morally grey. There is no “good guy” or “bad guy”, just a lot of mess and sprinkles of romance.

Where this fell short for me was the end but. The revelation or cause was not convincing as there was one build up to it.

It also felt a bit chaotic, as if the ending was rushed. Yes, many of the loose ends were tied, but maybe there were too many loose ends to begin with.

Overall, good duology and it was nice to be back in Elfhame.

first book was good, but this one was amazing. Holly Black has outdone herself once again, the mysteries, alliances, and love all together bring this book alive. Wren and Oak are such difficult and complicated main characters, but you frown to love them.
