I liked a lot of the art choices in this book.

I loved this book! Although I saw most of the events coming because I've had very similar experiences, I think it would be helpful to include some trigger warnings.

Absolutely heartbreaking autobio graphic novel about eating disorder and abuse. The art perfectly portrays the kind of trauma she went through. I felt like I could identify with some of her issues with eating, just not as severe. Definitely worth a read, just prepare for a serious case of the sads.

this was so good and i never want to think about it again

A difficult, but stirring read. The graphic novel is illustrated in a simple, but effective style- and the artistic liberties taken to express Katie's mental illness, her emotional process, and jarring moments of trauma was both one of a kind and incredibly familiar. A representation of the ways in which eating disorders evolve and morph over time, a representation of recovery which (probably more honestly than most) understands that healing, recovery, and wellness is a life-long pursuit instead of a singular moment of victory. For those interested but wary, this very thoroughly depicts mental illness, suicidal ideology, sexual abuse, and trauma. Nonetheless, the depiction is honest, potent, and ultimately optimistic.

I attempted to read this for a 'graphic memoir' prompt for a graphic novel reading challenge but I had a hard time with the 'triggering' content, didn't love the illustration style, and thought it was a little too long for my tastes at the time of reading.
I've not had an ED but there's a lot of other toxic behavior and such that I just wasn't up for reading.

Wow! Such a powerful book. The illustrations are wonderfully drawn and it breaks my heart what this girl had to experience. I have issues with food, myself, and I know some of them are because of things I had to grow up being around. Nothing like Katie Green. I'm so happy that she is on the other side of her eating disorder. I can imagine she still has problems on a day to day basis but she has the tools to work through them.

It's a beautiful book and hopefully it can help others who are where Katie Green used to be.
