What a story to start my year on! I personally have been wanting to get back into graphic novels, and Lighter Than My Shadow was a perfect pick. I feel like reading about eating disorders/the creep of a therapist through a visual context made it so much more real and intense of a read, which is what I look for in the stories I read. I liked the visualization of her depression/eating disorders being a jumble of black scribbles around her. I think it was a great detail to have in there.

Will definitely be looking out for this author/artist’s other work!

Autobiografia - pozostawiam bez oceny
Chwytająca za serce historia życia autorki zmagającej się z anoreksją oraz bulimią. OGROMNY TW: molestowanie seksualne, gwałt i oczywiście zaburzenia odżywiania

Excellent graphic novel about really tough subjects and the author’s recovery from her eating disorder. Great, great, great read!

This story was so very devastating to read.. The illustrations were such detailed and intimate windows into the paths that led Katie into, through, and past a lifelong struggle with disordered eating, body dysmorphia, and a deeply distorted self-image. The attention-to-detail in the artwork of this book makes it personal and resonant in ways that emotionally hit very hard. Compelling, heartbreaking, hopeful.
