Archangel's Kiss is a bit sloppy on the world building, but I am head over heels in love with these characters.
Sequel to the first book following the same couple but intriguing story!
This book was a bit slow. I get the severity of the injuries but the recovery time drags on a bit too long. Kinda brings the plot to a screeching halt.

Hmmm this book was a disappointment after the first one. It was certainly entertaining and has a compelling story which made it easy to read.
But there was a lot more sex in it then the previous one. Also many of the sex scenes were almost identical.
Ususually what I love so much about Nalini Singh is her incredibly fleshed out worlds. The sexy characters just make it that more interesting.
Sadly this book ended up being much more about the sex and left out a lot of the interesting world stuff.
There was a lot of back story for the main character, though it was interesting, it wasn't that well woven into the story (or maybe it just spoiled the ending for me).
I am hoping that the following book will have much more stuff about angel society, community and history.

A good sequel, but certainly not as good as I had hoped for this to be. Angel's Blood, the first book in the series, left me in complete amazement at the wonderful world-building done by Ms. Singh. With a dystopia like world where angels are ruthless beings who rule over all and vampires are their wicked creations, I was in for a whirlwind of a ride.
With the beginning of Archangel's Kiss, I expected to see the relationship between Elena and Raphael solidify and turn into something beautiful. But on that end, I was rather disappointed. Yes, Elena and Raphael do progress in their romantic endeavors, but I find their relationship to be rather...cold? Is that the word for it? For me, their love for each other seemed rather flat, and sometimes I can't help but think that all that keeps them together is lust. But maybe this is just me hoping for too much because I do understand that Raphael is nowhere near human, and as a result, his actions do tend to reflect his cold immortality.
The other 'issue' that I have with this book was that 3/4th of it was dedicated to build up to the climax when Elena finally meets Lijuan. The beginning seemed rather pointless with a few scuffles and conflicts here and there, but nothing too exciting. Lijuan, on the other hand, is really the ultimate evil that's suppose to drive the plot of this book. I found that I loved Lijuan and her almost crazed madness. She should've had more interactions with Elena and Raphael and propelled this book forward. Instead, I find their interactions to be rather boring and anticlimatic. And dont even get me started on Lijuan's 'death' from that world - plainly said, I thought it was lame.
I do hope that once Elena gains her strength that things will become more interesting. I hope to see her kicking ass in the next book just like she did in the first.

Ok... so... it's either violence or sex. Actually, more violence than sex. I kinda like the angels as characters but sadly the character building stops just after we covered physical appearances and sex appeal.
I think I would enjoy the series more if she'd spent more time on character development and depth. There certainly are a variety of characters, but I feel they're not getting their fair share of spotlight. Then on the other hand, might be that the plan is to have them have their own spin offs (which I think is the case for some, at least).
I guess I read the next one to see if it improves but so far I prefer her Psy-Changeling series over this one when I need a guilty pleasure fix. Just liking the world and characters a bit better.
