The Jasad Heir is an extraordinary ride that captures the imagination from the very first page. The author's unique twist on writing style breathes fresh life into the fantasy genre, making every chapter a delight to read. The innovative magic system is not only intriguing but also seamlessly integrated into the world-building, adding layers of depth and complexity that will keep readers hooked. The characters are well-developed and relatable, making their journeys and struggles deeply engaging. This book should be on everyone's reading list, especially for fans of high fantasy.

What to say about this book? Honestly it was fucking amazing. The world building was lush but still left some things to be discovered. This books cultural parts were some of my favorite. Each kingdom had its own traditions and such. We even get some glimpses of stealing the culture of the peoples you eradicated. The trials were fun as was the training. I will say I wish some of those instances were more discussed. I think the author still did a fine job balancing all of it. I think the pacing was also stellar. The enemies to lovers is a true one. Also if you have anything bad to say about Sylvia, don’t say it to me. I haven’t related to a character this much since probably Katniss so I will not hear any criticism about my girl.

Edit #3

I've been going back and forth on this book for an entire day now. This is my final review of it. I thought I'd end up liking it more than I did. The ending is what really brought down the score for me, because it negates everything that happened in the book prior to that. What purpose did the tournament even have when the books end because of her two stupid friends who took part in the ball? She gave up her identity and her self-preservation skills just for those two? That scene could have happened in the middle of the book and it wouldn't have changed anything. The ending made the entirety of the second half useless: the tournament, her winning it (don't even get me started on that as it wasn't even a fair victory, somehow Sylvia won... Ok, I guess). The first half is extremely slow at the start. Also I have a problem with names in this book, there are too many and similar sounding. There is a lot of exposition in various part, and a lot of lore drop that bored me after a while. I hated that the slowburn ended so quickly. And also I need to add that this book barely brings anything original to the table, it's all recycled tropes and plot: heir of the lost empire, brooding ML, enemies-to-lovers, tournament in three phases, the couple not being able to touch each other... Just because the sauce is different doesn't mean the ingredients aren't the exact same.

I did the audiobook of this one and it took a while to get into, but once I was locked-in I enjoyed it. There still feels like so much we do not know and I look forward to the second book coming later this year!
