bad
it was bad
almost a dnf and it’s only 2 hours
weird self help paragraphs interspersed with abridged and cherry-picked folklore stories and both were not really interesting (the self help being the much worse aspect of this) yikes

I found it to be very bioessentialist in nature, vague, dull, and overtly glamorous of non-white myths and stories that felt cherry-picked and exoticized. Very outdated. I did enjoy the authors voice.
This book is life-giving. I didn't know what that meant until reading this book, and even now I don't know how to explain it. It's a difficult book to read, but it's so worth the effort and energy.

Some nice metaphors and stories, but overall it felt like a lot of vague advice and spiritual fluff. Too neutral to be bold, too symbolic to be practical. The Jungian ideas about archetypes and fixed gender roles feel pretty outdated for 2025. People are way more diverse now, and those old categories just don’t fit anymore. It might be useful for women newer to feminism or those just starting to explore these ideas, but for me, it wasn’t that deep or helpful. Mostly vague spiritual advice that doesn’t offer much real change or action. Just not what I was looking for.
