I can’t figure this out because why is the book so long yet this is so short? I have to google. Anyway, this was alright…mainly stories about strong women or that have imagery, symbolism, etc. of strong women.

As an audiobook this lecturer had an incredibly soothing voice and even though there were many second wave feminist - terfy sentiments - it was still a nice exercise in reflecting on myths surrounding femininity and what they mean to different people.

Fascinating and unlike any other book I have read. Every few chapters, the author will briefly present a fable/tale/folklore and then analyze the narrative through the lens of the archetype “wild woman” in context of the narrative and applications to today.
Does what the author share seem quite feminist and sometimes at odds with my religious and environmental upbringing? Yes.
Did parts really resonate and acknowledge parts of me that I may have neglected, stifled, or sacrificed? Yes.
Overall, it was very eye opening, inspirational, and cathartic. So many folklores around the world teach about women becoming free to be authentic. There is an overall message of embracing your whole self and healing. Too often, expected people pleasing and unrealistic standards erode and devour the inner beauty, heart, and power of women today. How often do women feel that they need to be martyrs for the greater good and develop bitterness and resentment? There comes a time when she needs courage to say no, to forgive and love herself, and become free to become who she intuitively knows to be in her heart.
Short but powerfully reflective book.

This was a little too abstract for me. However, I did enjoy the exposure to folklore from other countries such as Japan, Mexico, and Russia.
