My only regret is that I did not start this book as soon as I was given the opportunity to read it. It was a fantastic romance, and I could feel the connection between the two main characters leaping off the page from the very beginning. Great writing, and I look forward to reading more by Lauren Layne.

Oh my god, this series is going to kill me.

Layne, can you please stop setting such high expectations? (It will be really hard to get a Jake, or Mitchell, or a Sam). Thank you.

Eh. My least favorite Lauren Layne so far. I found this one kind of boring, I didn’t care at all about the characters or their pending relationship. I found both characters irritating in their own way & slightly under developed. I also think I’m at the point where reading about female characters who think it’s pure ANARCHY to be sexually inexperienced is getting old. Might be my last romance novel for a while.

My expectations for this book were extremely high due to the fact that I liked Riley right of the bat from the first book. It didn’t necessarily reach it but it came close. I usually LOVE a badass confident characters especially when they are the main characters. Riley was all that and Sam clearly wasn’t but he had certain moments. The book had a couple of my fav tropes like “brothers best friend” forbidden romance, kinda a enemies to lovers but more like friends to lovers. I loved the banter and expected more spice but since that was the whole point she wasn’t getting any. I was okay with it. Overall easy fun fast read

This is probably my third favorite couple in the entire series (1. Daisy and Lincoln, 2. Emma and Cassidy). I was hoping to like it more as a brother’s best friend story but there’s parts of it they were a little messier than I would’ve liked.

this was the one i liked least of all four in the series. not that it is bad - on the contrary. I’m giving it 4 stars.
but it took me a while to get into it.

i liked sam and Riley’s romance. it wasn’t memorable but it is cute and in the end of the day it makes you feel good.

but once again what pushed this into becoming a 4 star read was probably the friend group - all the ladies and the ladies and respective partners. i love seeing them as a big friend group.

4-stars ✨

I didn’t realise how much i loved this trope until i read this.

But first, let’s talk about the amount of heart wrenching moments that had me going insane !!!!!

“Talk to me, Ri,” he said, unable to stop from reaching for her hand. “I don’t get what’s going on with you tonight.”
“Oh, it’s just tonight you don’t know? Like you know what’s going on with me the rest of the time?”
“I think I’ve got a pretty good idea, yeah.”
Riley gave a little shake of her head, dislodging a strand of hair from its messy bun. His fingers itched to reach out and touch it. Just once.
“You don’t know the first thing about me, Not the real me.”
“Don’t I?”

There was so much between them and the fact they were so oblivious to the others interest in them had me torn up in the best way. Everything she did was for him and everything he did was for her.

I also really loved Riley’s development in the series so far and she -also like sam- had metaphorical walls up, and in this book we got to see what it was like when they were down and how she started to open up more to not only her friends but to herself.

And even thought Sam gave off pick me energy, it was still really good read and they were really cute together!
