I wasn't a big fan of how Riley was the only one who was fighting for her & Sam's relationship and Sam only pushed her away. He should've grovelled a lot more than he did in the last chapter. I loved Riley's sense of humour and her friendship with the girls was really beautiful. The only reason I've given this book even three stars is because of the girls' friendship and all the Emma Cassidy crumbs. Other than that, there was nothing memorable about the couple and NGL, I still think that Riley should've been paired with someone else because Sam was too much of a chicken shit imo.

I tried hard not to DNF this book, as I liked the first couple in the series (even if they were a touch...trite and predictable). So many overused and unrealistic romance themes in this one: the supersexy virgin/almost-virgin, the couple in love for years but won't act on it, the heroine who has freaky metabolism and can somehow out-eat everyone around her and be a size two. I like Layne's writing style! That's the only reason I couldn't bring myself to give it one star.

I honestly love Riley so much. This series keeps getting better with each installment.
Friends to lovers. Best friend's sister / brother's best friend.
I still am into this series, but this one was the weakest I've read so far. I just didn't really buy Riley's history and frankly didn't love the things Sam inferred about her job (and some of the words he used to describe her). I also wish the author went a bit more into Sam's dating history and marriage while he and Riley were circling each other since he obviously wasn't a monk. Still some charming moments though.
