Can Lauren Layne do anything wrong? I think not.
As expected, I love this one! Julie and Mitchell's story is still my favourite out of all three, but Riley and Sam's still didn't disappoint. I love the bonding between the Stiletto girls (plus Emma), and glimpses of Jake and Mitchell, and also the mysterious Alex Cassidy. I do want to throttle Sam's neck 80% of the time--stop being so insecure, dude!--but I get where he's coming from. I love how Riley and Sam seem to bring the best out of each other, and I enjoy their banter.
Please, please, PLEASE with cherry on top write Alex and Emma's story please, Lauren? <3

It’s like my 3rd time reading this book. It hits every time , this whole series does honestly.
Who doesn’t love brother best friend trope with good banter good tension and great angst.
Ofc the friendships make this book and series all the more lovable!

I think Riley is one of my favorite characters from this author. And I love second chance stories, the kind where the whirlwind romance isn't so unbelievable because they've known each other for years.
I have been waiting for Sam and Riley's story and it did not disappoint. I love friends to lovers romances, especially a long friendship. I have enjoyed all of the love, sex, and stiletto books, as well as the Oxford ones. I'm looking forward to finishing them all.
4/5 stars
I understand why the general public didn't like Sammy boy here, but they were too sweet together with their doggies and their funny banter was so funny and sweet that it was sort of easy to forvige Sammy for being a bit of a dummy at a certain point of the book.
What I did not appreciate though were his jabs at Riley's job, sometimes they were very insulting and just plain mean.
“How do I know you won’t chicken out again when things get hard?”
His lips brushed hers. “You don’t. Just like I don’t know that you won’t get tired of a whisky-brewing scrub who doesn’t know Armani from D&G—is that a thing?—but isn’t that what love’s about? Taking the risk? And I do love you, Riley. I’ve always loved you.”

So I thought this book was interesting. I'm pretty sure I read one of the Oxford books a little while ago but I remember nothing about it.
I liked that the female character was this take-charge bombshell who knew how to flutter her lashes the right way. I didn't really like that she was an almost-virgin because it made the whole concept a little hard to believe. I felt like she could have just been more inexperienced or vanilla and the story would have made more sense.
My biggest problem for this book (and it's a big one) was the fact that the male lead freakin' slut-shamed the protagonist. This is not okay in any context and especially not a romantic interest. He even knew what he was doing was wrong but he would go and say it and it just made me hate him. I was frustrated with the protagonist too because at what point do you draw the line, lady? I mean, seriously. I get that you low-key love him but that doesn't give him the right. And I found in the end, after his hissy fit, I didn't want her to forgive him and that's a pretty big problem for a romance book.
Only redeeming thing about this book is the sexual-go-getter protagonist, even though she was romantically flawed for loving an asshole.
