I love Amanda Lovelace, her stuff speaks to me. Having said that, I didn't enjoy this as much as I have done her previous works but I have a feeling that is because I've processed my trauma and the themes she discusses I've already dealt with and don't have as strong feelings about anymore. Had 18 year old read me, I think I would have adored it.
Its a lovely collection though, the poems were quite short and easy to flick through quickly.

I would read it again. Definitely relate a lot to the first segment of the book. The second part was harder to read because I fear those are things ill have to come to terms with and action.

A poetry book after sooo long feels so good! Gaaah!

After having read and love the WOMEN ARE SOME KIND OF MAGIC series by Lovelace, I was quite excited to pick this one up. And yes, I enjoyed it but, not as much as her previous works. It had its own highs and lows and it had parts I could deeply connect with and other poems that I am sure others would relate to. However, I felt it was quite simple, like some sort of bridge between two books, for example a work tying up her MAGIC series.

I personally think that this is the best first book to pick up, if you are looking to read to experience Lovelace's lyrical poetry.

If you are looking for some easily accessible encouragement and self-discovery, this is a good choice!

It is an uplifting and empowering poetry collection that aims to encourage readers to break free from societal expectations and embrace their authentic selves. Her writing style and the use of fairy tale themes create an engaging tone, although it may not be to everyone's taste.

Amanda Lovelace's books have always been very hit or miss for me, but the last few that I have read have been all misses so I think it's time I stop reading them. This book didn't evoke any sort of emotion out of me and it didn't leave a lasting impression either.

Another amazing poetry collection! I really liked the formatting of this one, and this might be one of my favorites she’s written.

I read it in one sitting. I almost bookmarked every page up to page 30! Like, every single page. I was madly in love. I hugged a book, yo! But what Lovelace and I agree on, we really, really, really, agree on. What Lovelace and I disagree on...Well! Since I BOUGHT this paperback at least one page has NO. scrawled across it in big red letters.
I honestly kind of feel like Lovelace just /really/ doesn't like men. I was really sad to see Cinderella's prince charming came out to be a jerk. Like, another sex monkey, kind of jerk. The stereotypical snake we keep putting in media. It made me sad. I'm a raging feminist and I will "Not all men" until I'm blue in the face. It IS far too many men though. Some of the things that the Fairy Godmother said in the beginning were kind of sad. I'd call that voice insecurity rather than logic.
It's still a good book! I keep buying Lovelace's works! I still enjoy her poetry! I think my friends should read it. I will probably throw this book at them. Lovelace and I just don't always see eye to eye but I still think she's bomb.

A book of Poems about self worth. But it is so full of cliches that I was rolling my eyes most of the time I was reading it. I think its one of those ‘look at how deep and meaningful my verses are, and yet is still sitting at the shallow end of the pool thinking she is making bold life changing statements’ kind of writing.
