No me gustó cómo empezó el libro, pero me alegra no haberlo abandonado por ello. La última parte del libro tiene unas reflexiones muy importantes y hará que te emociones más de una vez.
Wow just wow!! This is the first Colleen Hoover book I have read and I'm now a fan for life. I don't think I have every had such a strong connection to the characters as I had with Layken and Will. Slammed was an amazing emotional read, I laughter and I cried through the entire book.
I just finished listening to this book and it had me in tears…tears at work listening to this story. I know that some people have an issue with the characters and the premise. But I did not focus on that I focused on the story and how people are brought into your life for either a season or a lifetime. It all reprints on how YOU allow those people to impact you and what you take away from that impact. This was my first Colleen Hoover book and it’s was worth it.
It's love at first sight for 18-year-old Lake (short for Layken) and Will (the cute guy who lives across the street) when they meet on the day Lake moves to Michigan from the south with her mom and younger brother, Kel, after her father's sudden death. On the first date, Lake reveals her feelings about recent events and Will reveals his true passion - slam poetry.
Everything in this story happens just that quickly. Both Lake and Kel become instant best friends with the first kids they meet. A few days after they meet and fall in love, Will and Lake discover they can't be together. Yet they can't be apart either.
Much of the tension in Slammed is built through Lake's misinterpretations of Will's words and actions, a device used with unfortunate frequency in teen romance and especially odd for this character. But, similar to Stephenie Meyer's Twilight, Colleen Hoover writes a passionate (and also respectful and responsible) relationship, and her portrayals of each family, both of whom have suffered great tragedy and survived through love and humor, are a pleasure to read.
Some elements are hard to believe but a book written in one month (or so claims the author) could have been a lot worse. The sequel will be told from Will's point of view.

Well. This book was WONDERFUL. I found myself saying: "WOW" several times. This book was beautifully written. GREAT story. Teared up several times, but the ending pulled at the heartstrings really hard. Powerful book. AWESOME read.
Some of the things I hated about this book:
1. Most unlikeable protagonist I have ever encountered in my 25 years. She is an absolute idiot and don't even get me started on how she ordered a chocolate milk with ice at a poetry slam.
2. "push your boundaries that is what they are there for" is a crazy thing to say. I feel like boundaries are there for a very good reason.
3. Colleen, girl you write about Michigan like we are in an eternal winter hellscape. I mean it snows here but not right before school starts. Try making it a crisp 50 Fahrenheit, perhaps describe the changing of the leaves and then it would be a step closer to reality.
4. Yeah nothing weird about the student teacher relationship - oh wait I lied.
I apologize for my absolute distain for this novel, but then again I don't.

Slammed, the first book in the series, brought me about these familiar exciting feelings, which were similar to when I read Maybe Someday. I couldn't stop turning the pages; I had to know when they will finally slammed together. Having previously read a piece by Hoover, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed.
This is one book of Hoover that I highly recommend to non-reader, and new reader.

I was sooo slow to starting this book but it deserved the 3am read that I gave it! I've heard so many wonderful things about Slammed, especially when watching PolandBananaBooks on YouTube, so I just had to read it. In a way it gave the book too high of an expectation but "Slammed" definitely met said expectations! Of course I didn't think I would have a love-hate relationship with the two main characters but I will get to that later because my opinion on that is smothered in spoilers. This story was so amazing and it really makes you think about life, death, and to be honest poetry. Even I wanted to perform a slam after reading the character's slams and I hate poetry and performing.
Now, I literally couldn't stand Layken or Will for half of the book and for the other half they made me cry in every chapter. As a couple they were bearable but apart still "together" I wanted to just place them on two different continents that were very far, far away from each other. I may be somewhat of a realist, but I am still a hopeless romantic and this book just can't help but tug on anyone's heartstrings. So, I'm giving it four stars because it still made me cry like all good books should!
